Phil Younghusband scores 5 goals in Loyola’s 10-1 trashing of Navy

Philippine national football star Phil Younghusband dazzled once again on the field, exploding for five goals to help the Loyola Meralco Sparks trash lowly Philippine Navy Redjuice, 10-1, in United Football League action Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

After a month-long break from UFL action, the Sparks did not show any rust in their game, steamrolling Navy by halftime, 4-0, led by three early goals from Younghusband.

The Azkal striker continued his onslaught in the second half, firing back-to-back goals to give Loyola a commanding 6-0 edge and pull away with the victory.

Mark Hartmann also scored two goals, while Alex Camara and Koreans Park Min Ho and Kim Hyo Il scored to help the Sparks tie Global for the second spot with 35 points behind league leaders Kaya, which has 36 points.

The Sparks have only three matches remaining, including a crucial tiff against Global on June 26 that could determine this season’s Division One champions.

Rolly Perez scored the lone goal for Navy, which faces demotion from Division One after losing its 14th match for only four points to place last.

In the first match, Green Archers United Globe trounced the Philippine Army Fritz & Macziol, 7-2.
