Car insurance agent robbed, shot


MANILA, Philippines – A group of robbers went on a shooting spree in Manila on Friday, injuring 4 people.

Police said the suspects robbed and shot car insurance agent Ricardo King in front of the Land Transportation Office in Domingo Santiago St., Sampaloc, Manila at around 1:30 p.m.

The suspects then escaped using a tricycle but were cornered by police in Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

The suspects fired at bystanders, wounding Ronald Perez, Edgardo Castro and Rayner Dalida.

As of posting, the injured victims were still receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds. King was still in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been arrested by officers of the Manila Police District Station 8.

They were identified as Mark Joseph Mercado, Ronnie Bergonia and Ronnie Zaragosa.

Recovered from them were 2 firearms, ammunition and a grenade.

They will face charges of frustrated homicide, robbery and illegal possession of firearms and explosives. -- Report from Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
