Floods brought by heavy rain that pounded Metro Manila and nearby provinces since Monday night disrupted the operations of the Philippine National Railways (PNR).
In an advisory on its Twitter account Tuesday morning, the PNR said provincial train trips to Bicol and vice-versa have been suspended.
“All provincial train trips (to Bicol and vice-versa) have been suspended,” it said.
The PNR also said on its Twitter account its commuter trains canceled operations due to high floodwaters along the tracks.
"The PNR commuter trains have canceled all operations because of high flood waters along the tracks," it said.
A separate report on dzBB radio said PNR trains were stranded along España Avenue and Dapitan in Manila, and in the Pasay Road area.
Passengers aboard the affected trains could not get down because of the floodwaters, the report added.
The PNR also said its tracks in Abad Santos, Blumentritt, Dapitan, España, Paco, and Magallanes are all flooded.
It asked Malacañang for assistance for the stranded train passengers especially at the Piy Margal Street between Dapitan and España.
Floods swamped parts of Metro Manila early Tuesday following hours of heavy rain since Monday night.
MRT operations continue
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Authority belied speculations the Metro Rail Transit will shut down operations because of the floods.
