Hidden camera found in store dressing room, officials say

Orange County authorities are investigating a hidden camera found in a dressing room at a Mission Viejo Gap store.

A female employee discovered the camera, which was about the size of a thumb drive, on Saturday; it was hidden in a frame hung inside a unisex dressing room. Black tape had been placed on the frame to conceal the camera, Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said Wednesday.

The woman alerted authorities, who picked up the camera and sent it to a lab for analysis.

"At this stage, we do not know how long the camera was there, who put it there or what images it has on it, if any," Amormino said.

He added that a suspect would be difficult to pinpoint given the easily concealed nature of the camera. If caught, the person would face charges of placing a concealed camera for sexual gratification.

"They definitely went to some lengths to do it," Amormino said. "I'm sure it took some planning to do. Obviously, it's a sick individual."
