Maja speaks up on Gerald's 'affair'

MANILA -- Maja Salvador has finally addressed reports romantically linking her boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson, to his co-star in the recently released action flick "On the Job."

The 24-year-old actress was asked for her comment at the sidelines of a press conference held Tuesday for her ongoing 10th anniversary concert series, "Maja Unveils @ 10."

As to whether she was affected by rumors alleging Anderson is having an affair, Salvador said, "Ano eh... Mahirap i-explain kasi, ano eh, na sa industriya kami at marami't maraming nali-link talaga."

The 24-year-old actor was paired with independent film star Dawn Jimenez in "On the Job," which featured the first-time partners in a sex scene.

Salvador was quick to laugh when asked if the daring scene affected her. "Artista kami, ano ba 'yon. It's part of the job, he's on the job," she said.

The "Impostor" star also shrugged off speculations that she and Jimenez are not in good terms, saying she even invited the neophyte actress to a special screening she had organized for "On the Job."

'100% trust'

While some time has passed since the film was shown in theaters, the rumor linking Jimenez and Anderson, a reporter noted, has yet to die down.

Asked if this has raised any doubt in her relationship with Anderson, Salvador said, "Kung may tiwala ka sa isang tao, panindigan mo lang 'yung tiwalang 'yun. Kasi mahirap pag mag-doubt ka sa isang taong malapit sa'yo."

Salvador said she never felt the need to confront Anderson about Jimenez, "Kasi mas importante ang actions sa akin kaysa sa mga sabi-sabi."

The actress was also made to address a specific allegation that Anderson has been spotted several times supposedly visiting Jimenez's condominium unit, to which Salvador simply responded, "Hindi ko alam."

She explained that she opts to place 100% trust in Anderson, regardless of rumors circulating of an alleged affair.

"Kailangan, oo. Ako, para sa akin po, sa umpisa ng relasyon, 'yung trust talaga. Kasi pag 'yon talaga ibigay mo, 'yun ang ibabalik sa'yo. Kung anong ibibigay mo, 'yun ang ibabalik sa'yo," she said.

Salvador shared she isn't particularly affected by persistent rumors that she has broken up with Anderson, pointing to her experience tackling intrigues throughout her first decade in showbiz.

"Gano'n naman eh, hindi mawawala 'yon. Halos lahat mag-aabang ng break-up niyo, kung sino 'yung susunod niyo. Basta ang pinaka-importante alam niyo sa isa't-isa na pinoprotektahan niyo ang isa't-isa at may tiwala kayo sa isa't-isa," she said.

As to what she considers to be a key to a strong relationship, Salvador said, "Syempre 'yung trust, 'yung love, at para sa akin, never ka dapat mag-doubt sa partner mo. Ang pinaka-importante sa akin kasi 'yung actions, hindi 'yung mga words."
