Anthony Keidis goes surfing in Siargao

MANILA -- After their historic performance at the 7107 International Music Festival on Sunday, Red Hot Chili Peppers lead vocalist Anthony Keidis took some time off to visit Siargao, one of the most well-known surf sites in the country.

According to the surfing website My Life On Board, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee called the tear-drop shaped island "paradise."

"As soon as the sun rose on February 24, Anthony Kiedis, together with some of the locals barreled through the waves of Stimpy’s, another popular surf spot near Cloud 9 in Siargao," wrote Janice Talosig on the surfing website.

Talosig also quoted local surfer Nildie Reitenbach, who described Keidis as nice.

“I was at the peak about to take the wave since I was priority, but then I saw him charging it as well. I eventually gave it to him since it is his first time in Siargao," Reitenbach was quoted as saying.

"When he went back to the line up, he was thanking me for giving it [the wave] to him,” she added.

According to the article, Keidis surfed the whole morning, joining other locals. He also had breakfast at Siargao Inn, which is owned by Reitenbach and her husband, Rico.

“He acts like he’s not a bigshot celebrity and even went straight to the side of the resort, where the faucet is located and just rinsed there, instead of going to the washroom,” Reitenbach told the website.
