Martin del Rosario no longer bothered by gay rumors

MANILA – Actor Martin del Rosario no longer gets affected by speculations that he is gay.

Speaking with entertainment site Push, del Rosario said he is already used to such rumors.

“Paulit-ulit na kasi yan eh. Hinahayaan ko na lang. Kung trip nilang pagtripan ako, hindi ko babasagin 'yung trip nila. Hayaan ko na lang talaga. Wala na akong comment. Hindi na ako magbibigay ng statement kasi paulit-ulit na rin lang,” he said.

Despite this, the actor said he does not mind taking on gay roles.

“Okay lang sa akin kasi mas challenging 'yung mga roles, mas gusto ko. Kaya kahit sinasabi at lagi akong nababalita na gay sa mga news, parang it doesn’t stop me to do more gay roles kasi parang malilimitahan 'yung craft ko,” he said.

Being in showbiz, del Rosario said he likes challenging himself by taking on diverse roles, which will improve his skills.

“Kumbaga, nandito ako para magtrabaho, para galingan ko ang pag-arte tapos kapag hindi ako tumanggap ng mga ganyan (gay roles), parang ako yung nalilimitahan,” he explained.

But is he willing to go full nude in case the story of a project needs it?

“Kung ako, parang okay lang lalo na kung art naman 'yan. Kaso siyempre kailangan ko ring kausapin ang management ko kasi sila 'yung may alam lalo na sa image ko, yung career ko. Pero kung ako lang 'yung gagawa ng wala 'yung management ko, okay lang basta maganda. Kumbaga, hindi lang for the sake na maghubad lang. 'Yung tipong malaki ang maitutulong sa ikagaganda ng movie,” he said.

Asked if he is also open to doing love scenes with another actor, del Rosario said: “Dapat mabasa ko muna 'yung script. Kailangang basahin muna. Importante iyon.”

Will Sam Milby play gay roles?

MANILA - Is actor Sam Milby open to the idea of playing gay roles?

In an interview on ANC's "Headstart" on Friday, Milby said he has no problem with portraying gay roles.

He stressed, however, that he has his own limitations.

"If it's a gay role, I don't have a problem with that. I haven't seen 'Brokeback Mountain' but if it's very torrid na kissing scenes, I don't think I can go that far. But it will also depend on the script, if it's an acting piece," said Milby, who admitted that he is a fan of the late "Brokeback Mountain" star Heath Ledger.

When asked if he can go nude for a film, the actor replied: "It also depends on the role, if it's artistic, it really depends on that."

Currently, Milby is busy promoting the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel" with actress Eugene Domingo as the lead star.

Milby admitted he enjoyed doing the action scenes for the film, which will premiere this December 25.

"I love doing action, siyempre hindi mahilig dito sa Pilipinas na mag-action lately it's more of drama, romantic comedy. Ako, I love doing action, I did wrestling in high school, I did karate," he shared.

Meanwhile, Milby said he will do a new television series next year.

Coco Martin on past gay roles: 'Sobrang proud ako'

MANILA - Coco Martin said he is proud of the numerous gay roles he took up in his past projects, amid intrigues related to scenes in his past films being tagged as a "sex video" of the actor online.




"Unang-unang pelikula [ko] 'yun," the 32-year-old actor told ABS-CBN News. "Kung ano naman ginawa ko sa pelikulang 'yun, sobrang proud ako doon kasi sobrang layo ng narating ng pelikula."

Martin's breakthrough role was his portrayal of a masseur in the 2005 independent film, "Masahista," for which he won the Young Critics Circles Best Actor Award. He also nabbed the Gawad Urian Best Supporting Award for his role in another gay-oriented film, "Daybreak."

The supposed sex video with his "Daybreak" co-star, Paolo Rivero, has been circulating online, with many people being mislead by the scandalous tag.

"Mga bagay na 'yan, hindi na lang namin papansinin kasi siguro sobrang pagod namin sa trabaho," Martin said. "'Yung mga negatibo ayaw na namin papasukin sa buhay namin."

On the subject of his "love life," Martin was also quick to clarify rumors linking him to his past leading ladies.

Martin has been romantically linked with Julia Montes, with whom he co-starred in "Walang Hanggan," and Gretchen Barretto, who made a guest appearance in the recently concluded "Juan dela Cruz."

He denied any romance with both actresses.

Asked to describe his ideal woman, Martin said, "Hindi ako mahilig sa maganda e. Kahit simple lang. 'Yung tisay, medyo may laman, maganda ang katawan, maabilidad sa buhay. Siyempre gusto mo, mapagmahal sa pamilya kasi hinahanap ko rin yung sarili ko sa kanya."

As to his upcoming projects, Martin earlier revealed that a full-length feature of "Juan dela Cruz" is in the works. But the actor said that if given the chance, he would love to go back to independent films.

"After soap, gusto ko bumalik muna ako sa indie para makawala man lang," Martin said. "Pero artista ako, kung ano naman proyektong ibibigay sa akin, gagawin ko."

"Gusto ko piliin 'yung mga trabaho na tatanggapin ko. Actually nagtaka nga ako, 'yung movie with Toni (Gonzaga) ayaw ko na kasing gumawa ng romcom (romantic-comedy) pero this one naman kasi romantic drama. And how can you say no to direk Olive Lamasan and Toni Gonzaga?" he said.

Pascual acknowledged that Star Cinema is known for producing successful romantic-comedies, such as the box-office hit, "It Takes A Man and a Woman," with John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geromimo.

But for his film with Gonzaga, he noted that they are trying "to innovate with the execution," citing, for instance, playing around with different camera angles.

"I'm thankful because at my age, Star Cinema is giving me projects na masasabi kong mainstream at nakaka-partner ko pa si Toni," said Pascual, who is already 36.

"I'd rather choose what I can do para hindi ko na kailangan ng isa pang intriga para sumikat pa," he added.
