Kirsten Dunst 'moved' by Jaclyn Jose's Cannes speech
MANILA - Jaclyn Jose, the first Filipina to win Best Actress at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for her role in "Ma 'Rosa," shared a conversation she had with Kirsten Dunst, saying the Hollwood star was moved by her acceptance speech.
Jose met Dunst, a member of the jury for this year's film festival, during the closing ceremony held last May 22. Jose beat out the likes of Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Isabelle Hupert and Marion Cotillard for the acting honor.
"Sabi ni Kirsten sa akin, she was touched because she thought it was a beautiful speech and that [I grabbed the hand of my daughter]," said Jose, who added that Dunst became teary-eyed during their talk.
Jose delivered her speech while accompanied by "Ma 'Rosa" director Brillante Mendoza and daughter Andi Eigenmann, who is also part of the cast of the drama film.
According to Jose, it was "instinct" that made her pull her 25-year-old daughter with the late Filipino actor Mark Gil onstage and introduce her to the audience.
"Ako naman, I go by my instinct, that's how I felt," Jose explained. "Iyon din naman ang mararamdaman nang tao, hindi naman natin puwedeng i-dictate iyan eh."
In her acceptance speech, Jose said: "I'm at a loss for words! I am so surprised and moved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the jury members."
"I thank Brillante Mendoza, whose instructions I simply followed. He's a brilliant director. I am so happy you liked the film. I'd like to salute the Philippine people," she added.

Andi denies reconciliation with ex Jake Ejercito
Mark Gil, Jaclyn Jose continue to back daughter
MANILA -- Andi Eigenmann has denied that she and former boyfriend Jake Ejercito have reconciled.
The Kapamilya actress took to micro-blogging site Twitter on Friday to explain her recent trip to London, where she reportedly spent time with Ejercito.
In a series of tweets, the "Agua Bendita" star said, "Jake and I haven't been together since last year and though it broke my heart, I was strong enough to accept that it just cannot be. I just dont understand why after I lost him, i still have to keep suffering from peoples judgments and accusations."
In November last year, a tearful Eigenmann confirmed on national television that she and Ejercito had broken up. The separation came after the actress' mother, actress Jaclyn Jose, said in an interview that Ejercito's parents are supposedly against his relationship with Eigenmann.
Ejercito is the son of former President Joseph Estrada and former actress Laarni Enriquez.
Following the breakup, Ejercito went on record to say that his relationship with Eigenmann "overlapped" with the actress' ties with actor Albie Casino, with whom she has a baby girl named Ellie.
Of the recent "intrigues" his daughter has had to face, Eigenmann's father, actor Mark Gil, said it is par for the course for public figures like the Kapamilya actress.
"Nagkakaroon lang ng spice kasi mundo ng showbiz 'to eh, but that's life and that's how it is. Hindi naman siguro mawawala ang intriga, pero I'm sure by now, alam na nila how to handle things," he told ABS-CBN News.
Jose, meanwhile, has chosen to keep from commenting publicly on her daughter's personal life. This, after her publicized remark about Ejercito's parents admittedly caused a rift between her and the young actress.
"Okay kami ni Andi eh. I'd rather keep my friendship with my daughter, than to say anything regarding the matter. I love her so much, I don't want to fight with her anymore," she said.
However, the veteran actress said she hopes Eigenmann will have her priorities straightened.
Asked for her message to Eigenmann's loyal supporters, Jose said, "Nagpapasalamat ako kasi sinu-support parin nila si Andi no matter what."
"Si Andi naman is doing her best to do her job well, and to be nice with everybody. Except for 'yung kanyang personal life talaga, medyo magulo. Sabi ko sa kanya, concentrate na muna sa career and kay Ellie," she said.

Jaclyn Jose says rift with Andi over
MANILA, Philippines -- All's well that ends well for veteran actress Jaclyn Jose and her daughter Andi Eigenmann, who had a rift that led to the split up between the young actress and then-boyfriend Jake Ejercito.
"Sa akin, ako ang ina ni Andi. Mag-ina kami mula ng ipinanganak ko. Kahit hindi pa siya artista eh, mag-ina na kami. Away at lambingan lang 'yan, ang sangkap ng mag-ina. Ganoon lang 'yon," Jose told reporters on Tuesday.
"Pero wala ng problema. We are living in one house, staying in one house. We love each other dearly. 'Di ako pwede magalit sa kanya ng ganoon katindi. Anak ko 'yan, mahal ko 'yan," she added.
The mother and daughter had a misunderstanding after Jose revealed that the parents of Ejercito were not in favor of Eigenmann.
Eigenmann previously admitted that she and her mom didn't talk for weeks following Jose's statements about Ejercito's parents, former President Joseph Estrada and retired actress Laarni Enriquez.
