Richard Gutierrez soon to be a freelancer?
MANILA, Philippines -- Will actor Richard Gutierrez soon become a freelance artist?
In her official Twitter account, the actor's mother, the feisty talent manager Annabelle Rama, hinted that her son will soon be a freelance actor and can thus do projects with other movie outfits.
"Ang sarap ng gising ko! I'm in cloud 9, can't believe about the good news of 2013!," Rama posted on Thursday.
"Little birdie told me last night that Richard will be a freelancer soon to make movies with other studio ... Yeahhhhhhh.....I've been longing for this day. Thank u Sto NiƱo for answered prayers."
Since last year, there have been reports that Gutierrez might do a film under Star Cinema with Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin.
Locsin previously revealed that a reunion movie with Gutierrez -- her first leading man -- was being planned at ABS-CBN's film production arm.
For his part, Gutierrez has been quoted that he is more than willing to work again with Locsin and that they are just waiting for the right time.
If this pushes through, this will be Gutierrez's second film with Star Cinema after "For the First Time" in 2008 with Kapamilya star KC Concepcion.
In its recent movies, Star Cinema has been casting non-ABS-CBN stars in its movies, notably Dingdong Dantes, who has done two movies with the film outfit, including the Metro Manila Film Festival entry "One More Try," which has been named Best Picture.
Dantes has also won two acting awards for his Star Cinema projects.

Court of Appeals reinstates criminal raps vs Richard Gutierrez

The Court of Appeals has ordered the filing of criminal charges against actor Richard Gutierrez in connection with a 2009 car accident in Silang, Cavite that killed his personal assistant.
In a decision dated July 19, the appellate court’s 11th division, overturned two resolutions issued in 2010 by the Department of Justice dismissing the charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide filed against the actor by Lorayne Pardo, widow of Gutierrez’s assistant, Norman Pardo.
The ruling reinstated the Sept. 28, 2008 resolution issued by the provincial prosecutor of Cavite that recommended the filing of charges against the actor.
The decision, penned by Justice Stephen Cruz, also said Mrs. Pardo’s case was clearly supported by the traffic accident report filed by the Silang town police.
According to the police report, Gutierrez lost control of his Nissan GTR sports car while driving along the northbound lane of the Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road in Barangay Putting-Kahoy at 1:30AM on May 22, 2009.
His car crossed over to the opposite lane and toppled a lamp post. The impact killed Gutierrez’s assistant, Norman, while the actor and his bodyguard, Jorge Mustura, survived with minor injuries.
The decision noted that Gutierrez must have been driving at a very high speed because the car was found in a ravine approximately 35 meters away from the lamp post.

Actor Richard Gutierrez comes out to support his MMA team at PXC 31

It’s no secret that actor Richard Gutierrez is a big fan of mixed martial arts.
He’s been training in martial arts since he was a kid, starting first with karate and later boxing, Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu. He once trained under UFC fighter Brandon Vera in preparation for a role in a TV series, and also attended an MMA workshop held by Mark Munoz earlier this year.
Gutierrez now regularly trains with the team over at Submission Sports Philippines in Ortigas. The camp is headed by Erwin Tagle, who is set to make his Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC) debut in a blockbuster title fight with flyweight champion Ale Cali in September, and current URCC middleweight champion Froilan Sarenas.
At PXC 31, held Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena, Gutierrez came out to support his Submission Sports Muay Thai trainer, Eugene Toquero, who defeated Victor Torre via technical knockout in a flyweight clash.
“It was well-executed,” Gutierrez said of his trainer’s impressive performance in the cage. “I requested for knees and elbows and he did exactly that so we’re very happy.”
Toquero brought about the end of the fight with a devastating elbow from the mount that opened a huge gash on Torre’s forehead. The ringside doctor was called into the cage, and he called it 4:16 into the first round.
“That’s his signature move, his elbow, so I was happy he was able to land it.”
But despite his dedication to the sport, don’t expect to see him climbing into the cage anytime soon.
“I don’t think so,” he answered when asked about his plans of making an MMA debut of his own.

Nadia Montenegro sues Richard Gutierrez

MANILA, Philippines – The Nadia Montenegro-Annabelle Rama legal debacle has just expanded to include the latter’s actor-TV host son, Richard Gutierrez.
According to an abs-cbnnews.com report posted on Feb. 22, Montenegro filed a harassment and unjust vexation complaint against Gutierrez before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office earlier that day.
This, as Montenegro claimed, was because of the “hurtful” text messages she allegedly received recently from the other.
Addressing the actor, Montenegro said, “I can get a hundred people who text you with that number. It’s your line. Stop… Don’t deny it.
“Ang anak ko na nga ‘yong binastos, ako pa ang tinext ng kabastusan ni Richard," she claimed. "Too much na ang bullying.”
Just early this week, it was reported that Montenegro intends to lodge a complaint to GMA-7 against Gutierrez after he purportedly failed to mention her daughter Ynna Asistio’s name in the introductory spiels for a performance on “Party Pilipinas.”
As quoted in a Feb. 21 article by Bulletin Entertainment, Gutierrez’s spiel went, “So guys humanda na kayong ma-in love kina Kylie (Padilla), Janine (Gutierrez), Lexi (Fernandez), Hanna (Flores) and Wynwyn (Marquez).”
Rama immediately defended her son, telling “TV Patrol” on Wednesday, “Wala sa idiot board [‘yung pangalan ni Ynna]. Wala namang pangalan ‘yung babanggitin niya, ‘di ba? Kaya ba’t siya mag-waste of time sa mga starlet? Hindi dapat gano’n.”
Prior to this latest brouhaha, Rama said that she plans to file a libel complaint against Asistio, who allegedly called her a “bugaw” (pimp) in media reports
The young actress has already denied the accusation, but said that she’s ready if the talent manager would indeed take matters to court.
Asistio remains one of Rama’s wards, along with Gutierrez.
