New PNP chief admits crush on Angel Locsin

MANILA - New Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa gamely answered personal questions on the ABS-CBN morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda" on Thursday.

Dela Rosa even admitted that he has a crush on actress Angel Locsin.

"Huwag na [nating] balik-balikan 'yan, nagagalit na misis ko. Mamaya sigurado ako, mamalasin ako mamaya. Pero ito, sa totoo lang, in fairness crush ko si Angel Locsin. Maganda," he said.

Dela Rosa also said he hopes to see Locsin on the big screen as the iconic Filipino heroine Darna.

"Sana, sana. Oo," he said.



Locsin's former boyfriend, TV host Luis Manzano, posted a photo of him and Dela Rosa on his Instagram page on Wednesday night.


Meanwhile, Dela Rosa also seems to be a fan of action stars Robin Padilla and Cesar Montano. The new PNP chief said he wants either of them to portray him in a biopic if given a chance.

Both Padilla and Montano are supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Why Robin wants to campaign for Duterte

MANILA - Actor Robin Padilla on Monday offered to be the campaign manager of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte if latter decides to run for President in 2016.

"Si Duterte po ang susuportahan ko," Padilla said. "We are a sick nation, we are a sick people, we need a sick leader, itutulak na namin siya."

When asked how he will support Duterte, the actor answered, "kahit ako maging campaign manager niya."

Padilla, who was the lower House to show support for the Bangsamoro Basic Law, said he and Duterte have long talked about the issue.

Duterte earlier said he is considering running for President in 2016 after being fed up with the criticisms being thrown at him.

"This is the first time that I have mentioned the possibility of being the president," Duterte said in an interview. "Then let me also have a taste of how you can handle people when you are in power not to harass but legally."

Duterte said he is praying for "enlightenment"and that he might run for higher office if enough people like Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and former Commission on Human Rights chairwoman Etta Rosales actually campaign against him.

"I've always said that God will somehow enlighten me. I've been asking, I've been praying: 'God, I do not like it. I do not need it. Pag ginusto mo, you give me a cause to do it.' Pero ito ngayon, well I am thinking about it, really. Pinag-iisipan ko na, na kung may sampung, o 100 people like De Lima campaigning for me, and Etta Rosales, (expletive) mananalo ako niyan. Mananalo ako! Etta Rosales and De Lima will provide the edge," he said.

The tough-talking mayor had been consistent about his position not to run for any national post in the 2016 national elections.

This week, Duterte landed in the headlines after admitting links with the "Davao Death Squad", the group allegedly responsible for summary executions of criminals in his city.

The mayor later retracted his admission and said he was referring to the Davao Development System.

Human Rights Watch earlier denounced the more than 1,000 killings committed by the Davao Death Squad since the late 1990s. Police and local government officials were reported to be involved in the targeted killings of alleged drug dealers and petty criminals, street children and others.

De Lima said Duterte must be held criminally liable for admitting his links with the notorious vigilante group. "Killing is killing, no matter what; and therefore, if ina-admit niya na he is responsible for these killings, then he should be held criminally liable," she said.

Meanwhile, former CHR chairperson Etta Rosales criticized Duterte's statements and warned the public against voting for Duterte in 2016.

"If the guy believes what he says, he's gonna bring us back to martial law days, do we want that?" she asked in an ANC interview.

She added: "Mayor Duterte do you not believe in the Edsa revolution? In democracy and justice? You answer me that. If you do not believe, and you intend to do with your extra-judicial killings, then I think we should campaign against you."

Kylie Padilla to take it slow with Rayver

MANILA - Actress Kylie Padilla, the daughter of action star Robin Padilla, prefers to take it slow before entering a possible relationship with Kapamilya actor Rayver Cruz.

"We talked about it po," Padilla told Kris Aquino on her morning show "Kris TV" on Monday. "I think we should focus more on career. I think it's the smart thing to do is to appreciate the blessings first."

Kylie admitted that she's not rushing things when it comes to getting into another relationship, stressing that she really learned a lot from her three-year relationship with actor Aljur Abrenica.

"One of the lessons I learned po from the relationship is to appreciate the blessings muna habang nandiyan. And work first. Ganoon din si Rayver," Padilla said.

But Padilla stressed that she has moved on from her break up with Abrenica last March.

She also admitted that it was the actor who initiated the breakup. "Ayaw kong magalit. Wala po 'yang naidudulot na maganda," she said.

Robin Padilla mulls retirement

MANILA - Is Robin Padilla hanging up his leather jacket?

Speaking with Anthony Taberna on "Tapatan Ni Tunying," the 44-year-old revealed that 2014 might be his last year as an actor.



"Next year," he said, when asked on when he plans to retire. "Sa ngayon kasi ang drive ko nasa pelikula. Para sa akin kasi ang TV, ang liit ng bayad eh. Hindi worth it."

Padilla criticized the youth-centric nature of local show business but admits that he is starting to find it difficult to keep up with today's stunt-heavy films.

"Dito sa Pilipinas, pag tumatanda ang artista, bumababa ang talent fee," he said. "Kaya siguro ako nahihilig sa pagpro-produce. Kasi yung sarili ko, naalagaan ko. Kailangan mong tumalon, kailangan mong tumambling. Hindi na tayo bata, 'tol."

But Padilla plans to keep on going as long as fans would continue to show their support. He noted that being with his fans is one of the best feelings in the world.

"Magkaiba ang sikat sa tinitingala. Matuwa ka pag nilapitan ka, kinamayan ka, nagpa-picture sayo. Pare, the best 'yun, the best sa lahat," he said.

MANILA – After two successful albums, a top-rating series, a hit movie and a sold-out concert at the Araneta Coliseum, teen star Daniel Padilla now has his own set of merchandise.

ABS-CBN Licensing recently launched an official line of Daniel Padilla merchandise, which includes anything from apparel and key chains to bag tags, mugs, tumblers, wall clocks and umbrellas.

The items are available at the ABS-CBN Store, at selected National Bookstore branches nationwide, and during Padilla’s events and mall shows.

Padilla is set to be reunited with his on-screen partner, Kathryn Bernardo, in the upcoming ABS-CBN series “Got To Believe.” The actor also graces the cover of the August 2013 issue of Chalk magazine, which caters mainly to college students.

The nephew of action star Robin Padilla was included in the “100 Most Beautiful Faces” in local show business of the entertainment magazine Yes.

Robin Padilla throws support for Kiram

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Robin Padilla expressed support for Sultan Jamalul Kiram III amid tension in Sabah, where more than 200 followers of the Sultanate of Sulu remain.

He arrived at Kiram's residence in Taguig Saturday afternoon via a helicopter.

The 43-year-old Kapamilya star, who is a Muslim, expressed sadness over the blood loss in the town of Lahad Datu.

"Sa nangyayari ngayon, nakakalungkot na Muslim sa Muslim... Kung mapapanood niyo at makikita niyo sa video, masakit iyon," said Padilla.

The firefight between Kiram’s men and Malaysian authorities on Friday led to the deaths of 14 people, 12 of whom are from the group led by Kiram’s brother Raja Muda Agbimuddin Kiram.

The sultanate's followers have been holed up in Lahad Datu since February 12 in an effort to strengthen their claim to the Malaysian territory.

On Saturday, President Benigno Aquino III through spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the path chosen by Sulu Sultan’s Royal Army to stay in Sabah was "wrong," and urged the troop to "surrender without conditions."

But Padilla questioned the government’s stance in handling the standoff.

"Kailangan marami akong tanong na dapat masagot. At ganoon din sa ating mga namumuno ng inang bayang Pilipinas, kung bakit pinapayagan nating mamatay ang ating mga kababayang Pilipino," he said.

"Muslim ako. Nakikita ko ang hindi tama. Nandito ako para mag-apila. kKpwa Pilipino na natin ang pinapatay doon," he said.

Addressing press members at Kiram's residence, Padilla added, "Ako'y katulad din po ninyo, maraming tanong. Kaya po ako narito, upang magtanong."

Asked for his stand on Kiram's claim of right to Sabah and the political tension surrounding the issue, the actor said he only seeks at this point the counsel of the sultan.

"Ang posisyon ko rito, bale wala naman. Ang importante dito, kinikilala ang sultan ng Sulu. Nandito ako dahil nagpupugay ako sa nag-iisang sultan," said Padilla, who credits Kiram for his faith.

During his time at the New Bilibid Prison, Padilla converted to Islam, which he said was "brought" to him by Kiram.

"Alam naman po ng lahat na ako'y balik-Islam, at ang nagdala po sa Bilibid ng islam sa akin ay si sultan. Hindi ko pwedeng makalimutan 'yon," he said. -- With a report from Jay Ruiz, ABS-CBN News

Anne Curtis balks at love scene with Robin

MANILA, Philippines -- Following the reported squabble between married couple Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla, a love scene between the action star and Anne Curtis for their primetime series is no longer likely to happen.


At the sidelines of a press conference held Tuesday night for the launch of her latest endorsement, Curtis expressed her hesitation to do a "love scene" with Padilla in "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."

This comes after the actor's intimate scenes with Kris Aquino, his other leading lady in the ABS-CBN series, had Rodriguez removing her wedding ring admittedly out of jealousy.

"If ever... anything, knowing how Mariel feels about of course her husband, I understand that and I'd rather not go to that extent to upset her. So siyempre as a woman I give respect to that. I'd rather not na lang," Curtis said.

Early this month, Padilla admitted on live television that his wife of three years had given back her wedding ring supposedly after watching his scenes with Aquino. In one episode of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," Bogs (Padilla) and Roxanne (Aquino) are seen exchanging vows, before going on a honeymoon trip to Boracay.

Padilla also expressed thanks to Aquino for helping convince Rodriguez to reconsider her supposed plan to leave her husband. The couple have since reconciled.

On Tuesday, Curtis said that the writers of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" may have since took into consideration the reported domestic squabble in planning the upcoming episodes of the series.

"I think even the writers are aware to avoid anyone getting hurt or offending anyone. So I think it's been understood already," she said.

The prized Kapamilya actress also confirmed that the series, as earlier hinted at by Aquino, will only run for one season, citing the lead stars' packed schedules.

"I don't know where the story's going to lead us, but I do know we've always been one season. But we've been taping for one year. I think the problem is our schedules also -- I have a daily ('It's Showtime'), Ate Kris has a daily ('Kris TV'), so it's kind of hard. But we're doing it, we're surviving, we're doing the tapings while we can," she said.

Kris' son Bimby 'hates' Robin Padilla

MANILA, Philippines -- The son of Kris Aquino with star cager James Yap is harboring "hate" towards the Kapamilya host's latest leading man.

 Even onscreen, Aquino's pretend romance is a matter of concern for James Yap, Jr., more popularly known by his nickname "Bimby."

Aquino said Bimby is "affected" and "heartbroken" by any hint of a new love life for his mom.

Referring to the upcoming comedy film "Sisterakas," where she portrays a villainous business tycoon, Aquino said, "Dito tuwang-tuwa nga siya (Bimby) dahil walang ka-love team, walang ka-eksena."

In her upcoming romance-drama series, however, the same isn't the case.

In "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," Aquino and former real-life boyfriend Robin Padilla portray a married couple, Roxanne and Bogs.

"Nanood [si Bimby] ng taping namin," Aquino told reporters shortly after the grand press conference for "Sisterakas" held Saturday.

"Ang nakita niyang scene kasi was a 15th wedding anniversary scene. Obviously may halik. Hindi siya naka-get over talaga, kasi ang bukambibig niya, 'Mama, I really hate Robin Padilla because he's stealing you from me,'" the actress added, laughing.

According to Aquino, 41, Bimby even went to tell "everyone" about the kiss, including the "Kris TV" host's brother, President Benigno Aquino III.

For his part, Padilla has assured the 5-year-old that the kissing scene is just pretend. "Ang sabi niya, 'Bimb, it's just acting, it's not real life.' Napapa-English siya," Aquino said.

"Tapos nagsuntukan na lang sila, hindi pa rin sila okay," she added, laughing.

Along with "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda and veteran comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, Aquino topbills Star Cinema's "Sisterakas." The upcoming comedy flick by Wenn Deramas is a film entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.

Also starring Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla and Xyriel Manabat, "Sisterakas" will hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.

Robin Padilla reveals real reason behind rift with BB Gandanghari

Robin Padilla says his vaunted opposition to his elder sibling Rustom’s new identity as a transgender named BB Gandanghari is not the real reason why they don’t see eye to eye.

He said BB’s change of lifestyle and her stand that Rustom is already dead are no longer an issue with him.

“Wala naman kaming problema, eh. Ang sa akin lang, hindi mo mababago ang paniniwala ko sa isang bagay. Pero wala namang dapat na maging problema,” the actor said.

Robin said the real reason for their rift is less personal. He had a movie project in mind for BB and Robin’s wife, Mariel Rodriguez, which he planned to produce and direct.

Robin said he offered it to BB as soon as he returned to the Philippines from New York early this year. But for some reason BB turned him down.

“Ganoon nga sana. Actually, sa kanila ni Mariel ‘yun, eh. Hindi niya gusto. Okay lang,” Robin said.

He revealed that he is now more keen on doing a movie with his nephew, the rising matinee idol Daniel Padilla.

He had an old project about the Kuratong Baleleng gang with his brother Rommel, Daniel’s dad, where Daniel was supposed to play a small role. But that was years ago when Daniel was just a young boy.

“Ang tagal na naming sinimulan ‘yun. ‘Yung ‘Kuratong Baleleng’. Hindi pa Daniel as in Daniel ngayon ang pamangkin ko. Gusto na naming ituloy kaya lang, sa nakikita kong ka-bisihan ng bagets, mukhang kami pa ngayon ang maghihintay kung kailan siya magiging available,” he said.

Robin parries suggestions that his nephew seems to be taking after him. He says the credit for Daniel’s burgeoning career belongs to Rommel.

“Give it to the father. Ang kanyang inabot eh dahil na rin sa kanyang mga magulang. Ang glory na ‘yun eh sa kanyang ama ibabalik. Nakakatuwa nga. Kung may pagmamanahan si Daniel, ang tatay niya, hindi ako,” he said.

Any plans of having a son of his own with Mariel?

“Hindi ko pa na-eenjoy nang husto ang honeymoon stage namin, eh. Kasi nga, sa ilang panahon ng buhay ko, namulat ako agad sa pagkakaroon ng mga anak. Hindi ko naman ’yun pinagsisisihan. Biyaya sa akin ang mga anak ko.

“Ang sinasabi ko lang ngayon, sa puntong ito, kung ngayon kami magkaka-anak, halimbawa na lang kakailanganin naming mag-travel mahihirapan din siya.”

Robin admits that Mariel has broached the subject of getting pregnant.

“Minsan sabi niya, talaga bang hindi pa tayo mag-aanak? Sabi ko naman syempre naman mag-aanak. Pwede ba namang hindi?” he said.

“Sinasabi ko nga sa kanya na mag-enjoy muna kami. Eh binuweltahan ako ng tanong, hanggang kelan daw ba? Sabi ko naman malapit na ‘yun.

“Hindi naman sa nagiging selfish ako. Alam ko kasi, eh. ‘Pag dumating na ang bagets, hindi na ako papansinin niyan. Masi-shift na ang atensyon niya sigurado. Eh, mahirap ‘yun. ‘Pag nangyari ang gano’n, maghahanap na ako ng mag-aalaga nyan,” he joked.
