New PNP chief admits crush on Angel Locsin

MANILA - New Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa gamely answered personal questions on the ABS-CBN morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda" on Thursday.

Dela Rosa even admitted that he has a crush on actress Angel Locsin.

Maganda," he said.

Dela Rosa also said he hopes to see Locsin on the big screen as the iconic Filipino heroine Darna.

"Sana, sana. Oo," he said.

Locsin's former boyfriend, TV host Luis Manzano, posted a photo of him and Dela Rosa on his Instagram page on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa also seems to be a fan of action stars Robin Padilla and Cesar Montano. The new PNP chief said he wants either of them to portray him in a biopic if given a chance.

Both Padilla and Montano are supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Meet 'Manila's sexiest woman'

MANILA - A month after FHM introduced its "Sexiest Woman in the Philippines," another men's magazine conferred a similar distinction on a Kapamilya actress.

On Wednesday, UNO unveiled its 12th anniversary issue with "Darna" star Angel Locsin on the cover, where she is described as "Manila's Sexiest Woman."

"#AngelForUnoMagazine is definitely one thing we can finally cross off the UNO wishlist (though of course we’d love to have her back!)," UNO said on its Facebook page.

It added: "Without a doubt the sweetest, funniest and most down-to-earth, Manila’s sexiest woman teases us with cheekiness in her eyes that leaves us tongue-tied. Angel Locsin is definitely the best way to toast 12 years."

LOOK: Sexiest Pinays: Jennylyn's FHM runners-up named

In June, FHM named another actress, Jennylyn Mercado, as the sexiest Pinay based on millions of votes cast online.

Coincidentally, the GMA-7 star was formerly in a relationship with TV host Luis Manzano, Locsin's off-on boyfriend with whom she got back together after his breakup with Mercado.

Why Luis won't demand a prenup with Angel

MANILA – Luis Manzano feels he and Angel Locsin do not need a pre-nuptial agreement if ever they decide to get married in the future.

In an interview with entertainment site Push, Manzano pointed out that Locsin even earns more than him.

“Hindi ko naman siya babalikan kung hindi ako sigurado sa kanya,” he said. “Kilala ko si Angel, definitely she’s not after money, mas maraming pera sa akin si Angel. I’m man enough to admit. Totoo naman eh. Sabi ko nga, malayo ang TF (talent fee) ng isang leading lady of that caliber, sa isang host. Napakalayo.”

Manzano added that that there’s no need for them to secure their individual properties when they tie the knot.

Nababalitaan ko ‘yon within the industry. Kasi si Angel ano eh -- kumbaga, the way I know her, she’s very logical na ‘Okay, ito yung pag-aari mo. Ito pag-aari ko.’”

Asked when they are finally getting married, Manzano said: “Siguro, engagement muna... But this is a big maybe ha, maybe next year.”

When that happens, Manzano said they only want a simple wedding ceremony attended by their loved ones and close friends.

But I respect her faith din naman kaya I can’t impose na sa church tayo. So kumbaga, that’s one of the things that we really need to talk about,” he said.

Angel Locsin to fly as Darna in 'PH's biggest movie'

MANILA - Angel Locsin will fly again as the iconic superheroine Darna in a movie she described as a first in Philippine cinema in terms of scale.

The 29-year-old actress, who first played the Mars Ravelo-created character in 2005, confirmed on Thursday that she will reprise the coveted role in a Star Cinema-produced film.

Award-winning director Erik Matti will direct the project, Locsin said.

The Kapamilya star had just finished meeting with the creative team and Star Cinema executives when she spoke with reporters about the movie, which is still untitled.

"Naku, you have no idea kung gaano kalaki! As in, never ako naka-experience ng ganito kalaking project, o nakarinig man lang.

"First time ito. First time ito sa buong history ng Pilipinas," she said.

Locsin referred to Star Cinema's vision for the film as "daring," citing the people involved behind the camera. The rest of the cast cannot be divulged at this time, the actress added.

"Ang tapang! Ang tapang ng Star Cinema para gawin itong project na 'to," said Locsin. "And ako, bilang napili nilang artista dito, sobrang...

'World-class'

Locsin expressed confidence that the film will elevate standards in local filmmaking, saying it is something Filipinos can be proud of on the global stage.

Pero dito ngayon, all in talaga. Ibibigay namin sa inyo ang lahat."

Citing the scale of the project, Locsin said she already considers it the highlight of her career. She even said, in jest, that she would have no regrets if it happens to be her last film.

"Wala, wala na akong mahihiling pagkatapos nito. Parang ano kasi... Sobrang -- pasensya na kayo, ha! Nalulula kasi talaga ako. Sobrang laki niya. Ang laki niya talaga. Right now, sobrang kontento na ako sa nangyayari at sobra-sobra pa nga ang nangyayari," she said.

Coming full circle

Darna, along with 12 other Ravelo creations, became contract properties of ABS-CBN in April 2013. The mermaid Dyesebel, portrayed by Anne Curtis in an ongoing TV series, was part of the deal signed by the late novelist's children Rita and Rex.

"ABS-CBN is an institution, and based on their products, I think mas maganda talaga na sa kanila mapunta 'yung projects," Rex Ravelo said at the time. "Hindi lang ABS-CBN ang option namin, but the best option is ABS-CBN."

Since her 1950 comic book debut, Darna has been played by over 15 different actresses on TV and in films, with the most recent being Marian Rivera's 2009 portrayal.

In the original lore, Darna is a warrior from Planet Marte who manifests herself in a village girl from Earth named Narda. In order to transform into the heroine and defend humans from evil forces, Narda swallows a tiny meteorite and shouts "Darna!" -- a small scene which has since been embedded in local pop culture.

Locsin said of bagging the role anew.

The actress turned emotional over coming full circle, saying the Darna character has changed her life since she first wore the iconic winged headdress and gold-and-red battle gear.

Edu reacts to Angel's confession about Luis

MANILA - Actor Edu Manzano reacted to reports that his son, TV host Luis Manzano, and actress Angel Locsin are open to rekindling their relationship.

When asked for his thoughts about the news, the older Manzano said, "I think in our own little way, we all love our past loves."

"They actually touched your heart, eh. Minsan ang isang tao, kapag na-touch ang iyong puso, mananatili yan panghabang-buhay," he told ABS-CBN News on Friday.

The 58-year-old actor said he also does not blame Locsin for failing to contain her emotion when she confessed on Wedenesday that she is still in love with the younger Manzano, and that she is hoping for a reconciliation.

Manzano said he has taken a liking towards Locsin, as he admires the way the actress looks after her blind father.

"I like Angel. Nagustuhan ko 'yung kanyang personality and at the same time nagustuhan ko 'yung kung papaano niya alagaan ang kanyang ama. That drew me closer to her," he said.

Asked whether he thinks Locsin is a good match for his son, Manzano said, "Only they can tell. At the end of the day, it wasn't meant to go smoothly forever. There would be humps. Magkakaroon ng away-away. But it ends."

"If it's going to make them both happy, I really would like to see them happy. I love my children very very much. I try to remain to close to all of them and to their loved ones," he said.

Why did Paulo Avelino back out of series with Angel?

MANILA – Actress Angel Locsin said she does not feel bad over the alleged decision of actor Paulo Avelino to back out of an upcoming series which they are supposed to headline.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Locsin said she understands that Avelino has a more important personal matter to attend to.

She did not give further details.

Naiintindihan ko naman iyon, kailangan niya talaga unahin yun,” she said.

Locsin, however, said she would definitely feel offended if Avelino backed out because he just does not want to work with her.

Siguro baka may ibang pagkakataon pa. Siguro hindi lang ito,” she said.

Locsin said she has heard a lot about Avelino, although she has yet to meet the newbie Kapamilya actor.

Reports say that the soap Locsin is talking about will also feature Maja Salvador and Jericho Rosales. The working title of the supposed upcoming series is “Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin.”

Video of Angel Locsin impersonator goes viral

MANILA, Philippines -- A video of a stand-up comedienne impersonating actress Angel Locsin is making the rounds online, days after it was first aired on TV via the late-night gag show "Banana Split."

In the four-minute video, singer-comedienne Jenny and another comedian, Iyah, are seen bantering. After impersonating a number of popular singers -- Jaya, Charice and Sitti -- Jenny adjusts her demeanor and voice to match Locsin's.

The comedienne proceeds to deliver Locsin's lines in the blockbuster film "One More Try," referring to herself as the character Grace.

One of the lead stars in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Zanjoe Marudo, is also seen in the video. The actor, who is one of the hosts of "Banana Split," is invited by Iyah on stage to re-enact a scene in "One More Try" with Jenny.

On the social networking site Facebook, the clip was uploaded on Wednesday night and quickly went viral. As of writing, it now has over 6,300 likes, over 7,800 shares, and 1,150 comments.

Most netizens shared their amusement with the similarity of Jenny's speaking voice with that of Locsin. Facebook user Abner Malong said, "May future!

Angelica denies rift with Angel

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angelica Panganiban finally spoke on the issue that there is a growing rift between her and her fellow Kapamilya star, Angel Locsin.

This after it was discussed in blogs that they had a misunderstanding while filming scenes for the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture "One More Try".

Locsin reportedly got hurt after Panganiban slapped her hard and pulled her hair in one of the scenes.

Panganiban reacted to this, saying that she only wanted to make the scene more realistic.

So mahirap dayain ang mga ganoon," she explained to ABS-CBNnews.com.

Asked if she and Locsin are on good terms, Panganiban said: "Sa trabaho naman, masyado siyang seryoso sa trabaho niya.

Panganiban was honest enough to admit that she and Locsin did not become close friends after filming "One More Try", but hopes that they will have more time to "bond" in the future.

"Sa susunod siguro may mabubuo, pero sa ganito ka-heavy na pelikula, mabigat para magkaroon ng bonding moments," she said.

Still, Panganiban assured that everything is fine between her and Locsin.

Angel admits 'plans' with Phil

MANILA, Philippines -- For the first time, Angel Locsin and Phil Younghusband addressed together questions on possibly tying the knot in the near future.

The celebrity couple arrived together at the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Awards Night held Thursday at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas.

The Kapamilya actress stars in one of the competing entries in the film fest, the family drama "One More Try."

Shortly before the awarding ceremony, entertainment media at the event asked Locsin and the Philippine football team player on whether they are now planning their wedding.

"Wala pa, plans pa lang, pero walang wedding," Locsin said.

The 27-year-old actress and the 25-year-old star striker have been officially a couple since May this year.

In earlier interviews, Younghusband referred to Locsin as his "true love," and expressed his intention of "having a future with Angel."

Referring to early buzz favoring her to win the Best Actress award -- Nora Aunor was given the honor for her "Thy Womb" portrayal later that night -- Locsin admitted to being nervous, "[pero] kasama ko naman si Phil."

Amid their packed schedule, the couple managed to spend Christmas Day together.

"December 24, I was with my sister, my brother, and then 25th I was with Angel, so we got to spend Christmas together," Younghusband said. "Masaya, it's always happy with Angel."

Zanjoe felt uneasy doing 'love scene' with Angel

MANILA, Philippines - Zanjoe Marudo admitted that he initially felt uneasy doing intimate scenes with Angel Locsin for their newest film.

Marudo, who is in a relationship with Kapamilya star Bea Alonzo, is Locsin's leading man in "One More Try", an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

This is the first time that Marudo and Locsin worked together in a film project.

"Siyempre 'yung first time namin na magkatrabaho tapos gagawa kami ng ganoong eksena. Kinakabahan kasi ako," Marudo told entertainment reporters last week.

Asked how his girlfriend reacted to his newest film role, Marudo said: "Una nga, hindi naniniwala [si Bea] na may [love scenes kami ni Angel]. Pero wala namang isyu doon. Kasi nagkakilala kami, pareho na kaming artista. So wala nang isyu 'yung ganoong eksena."

Locsin, for her part, praised Marudo, calling him a "gentleman."

Si Z, bilang gentleman, first time naming magkakasama at may love scene agad kami.

Pero ang galing ni Z sa eksena na 'yon," explained Locsin, who is currently in a relationship with football player Phil Younghusband.

"One More Try", which also stars Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban, opens in theaters nationwide on December 25.

Angel Locsin bares Christmas plans with Phil

MANILA, Philippines  - Actress Angel Locsin won't be spending Christmas Eve with Azkals player Phil Younghusband.

"Ako siyempre kasama ko ang pamilya ko. Eh siya kailangan din nilang mag-bonding ng pamilya," Locsin told reporters after the press conference of Star Cinema's "One More Try" on Wednesday.

But Locsin said that they might celebrate Christmas after December 25.

The actress said as early as now she already bought her Christmas gift for Younghusband, although she refused to say what it is.

Proud of Phil

In the interview, Locsin said she's proud of Younghusband after the Philippine Azkals barged into the semi-final round of the 2012 Suzuki Cup after winning two of their three games in the group stage.

Locsin also admitted that she was hurt when Youghusband sustained cut on his eyebrow from a rough tackle by a Thai player.

Phil wants to see Angel as Darna

MANILA, Philippines – Azkals striker Phil Younghusband thinks it would be interesting to see his girlfriend, actress Angel Locsin, reprise her role as the iconic Pinay superheroine.

It was recently reported that ABS-CBN earned the rights to Mars Ravelo's “Darna” character and Locsin has expressed interest in donning the two-piece sexy costume anew.

In a text message sent to ABS-CBNnews.com, Younghusband said he doesn’t know if the rumors of the supposed remake are true or not but he said, “It would be great to see Angel as Darna again.”

“I never got to see her play it the first time but people always tell me how popular it was when she played the role and it would be very exciting if she were to be Darna again,” Younghusband said.

Locsin first portrayed the fictional Filipina icon in 2005, before she became a Kapamilya.

Meanwhile, aside from seeing Locsin play the superheroine character again, Younghusband is also looking forward to the Azkals’ game against the Singapore national football team on November 15 in Cebu.

“Azkals training will start on the 9th, and leave for Cebu on the 12th. But I have training and UFL games with Meralco up until then,” he said.

Asked if he thinks they could win the upcoming match, Younghusband said: “We have confidence from our last game with them and it will be in Cebu in front of our own Filipino fans so we are looking forward to it. We will prepare to win the game and if we play as well as we did against them last time, then we have a very good chance.”

Marian OK with Angel's possible 'Darna' reprise

MANILA, Philippines – Former "Darna" actress Marian Rivera sees nothing wrong with the possibility of Angel Locsin reprising her role as the iconic Pinay superheroine.

With ABS-CBN reportedly having earned the rights to Mars Ravelo's Darna character, Locsin has expressed interest in donning the two-piece battle gear anew.

Locsin first portrayed the fictional Filipina icon in 2005, before she became a Kapamilya.

Herself an incarnation of Darna via a 2009 TV series, Rivera said any new take on the role is simply par for the course.

"Okay lang, ganoon naman talaga eh," Rivera was quoted as saying by entertainment website PEP, when asked for her comment on Locsin's possible reprise of the Darna character.

"Nakailang ulit na rin ang Darna, ang Dyesebel, ang Captain Barbell, so ganoon talaga ang routine," she added.

Since appearing in local publications since the 1940s, Darna has been portrayed by over 15 different actresses in TV and films, among them veteran actress Vilma Santos.

Santos, like Rivera, also portrayed the fictional mermaid Dyesebel. The character has since been portrayed by about five different actresses on the big screen.

"So ganoon lang ang buhay, paulit-ulit," Rivera said.

For her part, Locsin, in an earlier interview, said she is not closing her doors to making a return as the flying superheroine.

So tignan natin, sabi nga nila kung sino ang mapalad sa kanya ibibigay 'yung bato," she said.

Angel Locsin speaks her mind on Arnold Clavio's 'racist' comments

Aminado si Angel Locsin, bago pa man ginanap ang 28th PMPC Star Awards For Movies nitong Miyerkules, March 14, todong nerbiyos na ang nararamdaman niya being one of the nominees sa kategoryang Best Actress para sa mahusay niyang pagganap sa In The Name Of Love.

"Kasi para sa akin, ang gandang chance noong In The Name of Love. 'Yung acting, gusto ko po doon. 'Yung istorya.

Any new projects coming up?

"Yes. May bago akong serye. Tapos may two movies din. Pero nothing final. Yung isang movie, kasama ko sina Bea (Alonzo), Toni (Gonzaga), and Angelika (Panganiban).

Na kailangan mas galingan pa niya this time.

"May award man o hindi, bilang trabaho mo, kailangan galingan mo talaga. Ibigay mo kailangan talaga ang hundred ten percent mo. As in itodo mo na, diba?

Mas nagkakaroon ka ng lakas ng loob to explore on different kinds of roles.

Not angry at Arnold

So parang nalungkot lang at naawa ako.

So parang huwag namang ganoon.

"So ang sakit.
