How Daniel Matsunaga met his new model girlfriend

MANILA – Unlike before, Daniel Matsunaga said he would rather keep his relatively new relationship with his Polish girlfriend away from the public eye.

 As a celebrity, Matsunaga said the public already knows a big chunk of his life and he thinks it is just fair to keep a part of it private.

"Hindi naman [sa ayaw ko na pag-usapan unlike my past relationships]. Ayaw ko mag-compare. It's just that gusto ko this time to try something new, to be more private. Sometimes, it's good to be private. Everything is super exposed na sa buhay ko. This time, let's try something different," he said.

Nonetheless, Matusnaga said Karolina Pisarek -- a 20-year-old model who finished runner-up in the fifth season of Poland's version of "America's Next Top Model" back in 2015 -- is aware that he is talking about her in his interviews.

The actor said Pisarek also knows about his past relationships.

"She's aware naman. She knows naman, not everything, pero for me, I don't like talking about the past. You live in the present. You live for what you have in the moment and your future. And you pray to God to be in the front of the relationship," he said.

According to Matsunaga, he met Pisarek when she came to the Philippines for an advertising campaign.

Asked what is it with Pisarek that he likes the most, he said: "Lahat, 'yung beauty, 'yung inside person niya."

Prior to Pisarek, Matsunaga was in a relationship with Erich Gonzales. They parted ways early this year.

LOOK: Pia Wurtzbach poses for Nigel Barker

MANILA - Noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker took to Instagram to share a glimpse of his recent photo shoot with no less than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

Set at the Baccarat Hotel in New York City, Barker’s photo shows Wurtzbach wearing a beige gown as she sits in a couch inside a huge room.

In the caption, Barker wrote: “Photographing the beautiful Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach at the exquisite Baccarat Hotel for Philippine Tatler.”



Barker is most popularly known for his judging stint in the long-running reality model search "America's Next Top Model."

In 2012, he also became a Miss Universe judge, who got to ask Philippine bet Janine Tugonon during the pageant's question and answer portion.

Tugonon finished first runner-up to Miss USA Olivia Culpo at that time.

Over the years, Barker has photographed many Filipina personalities including model-host Georgina Wilson, former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez, TV host and and Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, singer Pops Fernandez and actresses Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana and Isabelle Daza.

In a past interview with ABS-CBN News’ Dyan Castillejo, Barker said, “Filipinos are some of the most beautiful people I've ever photographed and worked with.”

Francis Libiran returns to 'America’s Next Top Model'

MANILA – Top local designer Francis Libiran appears once again in an episode of “America’s Next Top Model,” which will be aired in the Philippines on Saturday.

Libiran has been chosen by supermodel and “ANTM” host Tyra Banks to return to the show's 22nd cycle and create a special collection as part of the last challenge for its five finalists.

Filipino viewers can catch the 12th episode featuring Libiran on ETC at 8 p.m. on November 7. The show will be aired in the United States on November 6.

“To be part of this legendary TV show for the second time is, again, an honor not only for me, but also for the Philippines,” Libiran said. “We got so thrilled and excited when we got the call from Tyra’s team. It was a surreal experience as it is an honor and privilege to represent Filipino talent and artistry in such an international and well-respected platform as ‘America’s Next Top Model’.”

Libiran was first featured on “ANTM” during the show’s 18th cycle in 2012, where he showcased his Hello Kitty couture collection.




His appearance on “ANTM” paved the way to his working relationship with Banks, who has worn his gowns in various occasions.

#RawandReal: Tyra Banks puts selfies to good use

MANILA – Supermodel Tyra Banks uses the ubiquitous “selfie” to deliver a powerful message about body image.

The host of the reality show “America’s Next Top Model” posted a photo of herself without any makeup on Instagram last week, reminding her followers to learn how to “keep it real” by embracing their flaws.

Banks made the statement after observing how many people tend to post “raw” and “I woke up like this” images that have been through vigorous retouching, whether digitally or through makeup.



“You know how people say #nofilter but you know there’s a freakin’ filter on their pic? Or maybe there’s a smidge of retouching going on but they’re lying and saying it’s all raw and real? Well this morn, I decided to give you a taste of the really real me. I wanted to smooth out my dark circles so badly!!! But I was like, ‘Naw, Ty. Show ‘em the REAL you,’” she wrote.

“So… here I am. Raw. And there YOU are… looking at me, studying this picture. Maybe you’re thinking, ‘Whoa, she looks ROUGH.’ And if you are, great! You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me. #RawAndReal,” she added.

A day later, Banks posted another selfie showing herself fully made up, admitting that she needs “to put a stuff on my face to look like a supermodel.”



“Today, I want to continue to keep it real. Why? Because we ALL know I don’t walk around looking like the bare-faced photo I posted yesterday. Almost every day, I rock mascara, blush up my cheeks and throw concealer on those damn dark circles under my eyes I was so tempted to touch up on my raw pick yesterday. The painted face you’re looking at right now… THIS is REALLY me, too! Is it raw? Heck no! Is it real? The jury’s out on that, but I say, ‘Yeah.’

“I know what you’re thinking. ‘What???!!!’ It’s real because I’m keeping it REAL by admitting that I need to put stuff on my face to look like a supermodel. (Add a lil’ retouching and wham, the final look is complete!) Yeah, I wished I woke up looking flawless, but that just ain’t me. Not at all. And I’m not ashamed to admit it. None of us should be. #RougeAndReal.”

Tyra Banks graces cover of local fashion mag

MANILA – Former supermodel and “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks does her signature “smize” as she appears on the cover of a local fashion magazine.

Banks is the cover girl of the 22nd anniversary issue of Mega, which was released early this month.

The former supermodel was photographed in New York City wearing a black embellished dress by top local designer Rajo Laurel. Banks has worn some of Laurel’s creations in various events.

“Tyra proved to be the consummate professional, a true supermodel, taking one sublime picture after the other,” according to a writeup on Mega’s website.

For February, Mega also released a magazine for males dubbed Mega Man, which features ABS-CBN reporter Atom Araullo on the cover.

American model Allison Harvard starts career in PH

MANILA - American model Allison Harvard, best known for her odd and creepy fashion style, has signed up with a Manila-based talent agency to expand her career in Asia.

Harvard, who gained notoriety in the model search "America's Next Top Model," was signed up by Arnold Vegafria, manager of such talents sa Billy Crawford and Bruno Mars' sisters, The Leilas.

She will be the new host of "Mega Fashion Crew: Reloaded," a Philippine TV show.

Harvard successfully auditioned for Cycle 12 of "America's Next Top Model." During the audition process, Harvard stated that she thought nosebleeds were pretty, and that she was fascinated by blood.

In 2011, Harvard participated in Cycle 17 of "America's Next Top Model," the first All-Stars edition of the show, where she was the runner-up for a second time.

Like all the other contestants on Cycle 17, Harvard was given a branding word: "unique". During her time on the show, she developed her own perfume called "Honey Blood" and performed in a music video for her song "Underwater".

In June 2009, she made an Internet video with fourfour titled "Fake Blood".

Harvard is the face of Michael Cinco's "Impalpable" perfume with international male model Tierry Vilson, and walked in the Philippine Fashion Week 2012 with fellow All-Stars contestant Dominique Reighard in the Bench fashion shows headed by Cinco and Rajo Laurel.

In celebration of Bench's 25th anniversary, Harvard walked the runway at "Bench Universe: The 2012 Denim & Underwear Show" in September 2012, along with Reighard and this time with "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 18 winner Sophie Sumner.

Late last year, Harvard made an appearance in an episode of "I Am Meg: Own the World" in Style, a Philippine fashion-oriented TV show on ETC.

Fashion blogger Bryanboy to judge next season of ‘America’s Next Top Model’

Fashion blogger Bryan Grey Yambao, more popularly known as Bryanboy, will become a judge in the the next season of “America’s Next Top Model”.

Bryanboy will fill up one of the two vacant seats in the show’s judging panel. Long-time judges and mentors Nigel Barker and Jay Manuel left the show earlier this year.

Bryanboy was a former freelance web developer based in his parents’ home in Manila. Heis eponymous blog received the Philippine blog award for Best Fashion and Lifestyle Blog in 2007.

In its 2010 Power Issue, Vogue named him one of nine bloggers “making a global industry sit up and take notice”.

“America’s Next Top Model” is hosted and produced by supermodel Tyra Banks. According to Tyra, she chose Bryanboy because the fashion blogger writes about global fashion events.

Bryanboy is currently in the US taping episodes for the 19th cycle of “ANTM”.

The 19th cycle will feature a brand new theme. It will cater to college students aspiring to become models. The “college edition” of “ANTM” is set to premiere in the fall in the US.
