Tyra Banks graces cover of local fashion mag
MANILA – Former supermodel and “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks does her signature “smize” as she appears on the cover of a local fashion magazine.
Banks is the cover girl of the 22nd anniversary issue of Mega, which was released early this month.
The former supermodel was photographed in New York City wearing a black embellished dress by top local designer Rajo Laurel. Banks has worn some of Laurel’s creations in various events.
“Tyra proved to be the consummate professional, a true supermodel, taking one sublime picture after the other,” according to a writeup on Mega’s website.
For February, Mega also released a magazine for males dubbed Mega Man, which features ABS-CBN reporter Atom Araullo on the cover.

Atom Araullo graces magazine cover
MANILA – ABS-CBN News reporter Atom Araullo gets a makeover as he graces the cover of Mega Man, the men’s edition of the local fashion magazine Mega.
Araullo was photographed in Divisoria for the cover, where he is seen wearing a blue blazer and an orange polo paired with denim jeans.
A blurb on the magazine referred to Araullo as “that guy in the rain,” referring to his daringcoverage of super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan) last year.
“We admit we caused traffic on the busy roads of Divisoria when we shot this month’s Mega Man cover. It wasn’t surprising that news reporter Atom Araullo literally stopped people in their tracks. With an undeniable charm and humor to boot, he has risen to become a leading man of sorts, albeit reluctantly,” a write-up on the magazine’s website read.
In a newspaper interview last December, Araullo declined the “Superman” tag given to him by netizens for braving the strong rains of “Yolanda” and helping residents cross deep floods.
“I’m not a hero. I was just one of the guys covering the storm,” he stressed.
Araullo, who started his television career via the ‘90s educational show “5 and Up,” was hailed by the lifestyle website Spot.ph in 2010 as the “cutest newsman” in the Philippines.

MANILA – Years after doing a couple of sexy pictorials, television host Bianca Gonzalez graces the cover of a fashion magazine, this time with purple hair.
Gonzalez, one of the hosts of the ABS-CBN morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda,” shows off her short locks on the cover of the November 2013 cover of Mega Magazine.
She is seen wearing a gray see-through dress on the cover, which was shot against a background of the same color to further emphasize her new hairstyle.
“Be liberated!” Mega Magazine said in a caption for the photo of the cover, which was uploaded on its Facebook page late Wednesday.
In a post on her Instagram page, Gonzalez said her new look is part of her endorsement of the hair care brand Vidal Sassoon Philippines.
“Sporting #theBianca hair (naks!) that I’m already really loving! If you’re thinking of changing your look, now is the time, go for it!!!!” she wrote as she uploaded a photo of her newest magazine cover.
Several Instagram users, including some of Gonzalez’ friends from showbiz, praised the TV host’s new look.
“Gandrous b!!!! Classy!!!!!:)” actress-host Toni Gonzaga wrote.
“Winner!” said former TV host Cheska Kramer.
Actress Marian Rivera, for her part, commented on Gonzalez’ Mega Magazine cover by typing in three heart symbols.
Early this year, Gonzalez appeared on the cover of the men’s magazine Rogue wearing a dress with an asymmetrical hemline, which revealed a part of her back.
In 2012, she went topless for the cover of Esquire Philippines.

Anne Curtis poses in South America for mag covers
MANILA – Kapamilya star Anne Curtis wears local brands as she appears on the two covers of the September 2013 issue of the local fashion magazine Mega, which were both shot in South America.
The first cover features a close-up of Curtis against the background of Machu Picchu in Peru, while the second saw the actress posing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
On the Rio de Janeiro shoot, Curtis wore a two-toned corset dress by Bo Parcon, a jacquard printed Eric delos Santos jacket worn as a skirt, and metallic gold pumps by Primadonna, which the actress endorses.
