Daniel Matsunaga on breakup with Erich Gonzales: Not about money

Daniel Matsunaga denies that he and Erich Gonzales broke up because of money.

"It was never about money like what a lot of people are thinking right now," he told Pep, hours after Gonzales revealed to the media that their relationship had come to screeching halt.

Rumors about their split first surfaced after Gonzales deleted all of her photos with him from her Instagram account.

Their decision to not directly address their love troubles paved the way for more speculation, with some claiming that financial troubles were a factor.

There were also suggestions that a third party was involved, but both Gonzalez and Matsunaga have repeatedly struck those down.

In his interview with Pep, Matsunaga again refused to detail his breakup with his leading lady. He only said that he is leaving everything to God at this point.

Matsunaga, who rose to fame after he won "Pinoy Big Brother: All In," was in relationship with Gonzales since 2015.

The two have starred in the hit morning series "Be My Lady," which concluded after nearly a year on air.

Daniel Matsunaga: No third party in relationship troubles with Erich Gonzales

Daniel Matsunaga has asked for privacy amid relationship troubles with girlfriend and leading lady Erich Gonzales. He also denied that a third party has been causing the drama in their romance.

“Whatever is happening between me and Erich right now should be between the two of us please," he told one of his followers on Intsagaram. "We have nothing against each other and my love for her will always be there. So sa lahat ng mga haters, I just hope you guys respect her. Tama na please. Grabe kayo."

When one asked whether one of them is having an affair, he wrote: "There is no third party."

The couple's troubles began to surface early this week after some eagle-eyed fans noticed that Gonzales removed photos of her with her boyfriend from her Instagram account. Matsunaga has since admitted that they were "going through some personal things."

The two first met when Matsunaga joined the cast of primetime series "Two Wives" in January 2015, which Gonzales topbilled. They then admitted to being a couple in June 2015.

Gonzales and Matsunaga starred in the noontime series “Be My Lady," which ran for nine months as part of ABS-CBN's morning offerings.

Maurer surprised by slapping scene in movie

MANILA, Philippines - Thai actor Mario Maurer said he will never forget his experience working on the film “Suddenly It’s Magic” with actress Erich Gonzales.

"The first day I spoke to direk, she told me that, 'You know here in the Philippines when we work we start like friends and we finish we became a family,'" Maurer said.

Director Rory Quintos said she will never forget the slapping scene of Maurer and Gonzales, especially when the Thai actor was caught by surprise when Gonzales really slapped him.

"He told me that in Thailand, people don't really get slap, dinadaya. And I said, 'Oh, here in the Philippines, it's not (like that). You will really get slapped.' So that was it. So there was a little tension there," she said.

But despite that incident, Gonzales and Maurer eventually got closer, according to the director.

"Sabi ko you know you remind me so much of an actor who was once a superstar here in the Philippines. His name is Rico Yan," Quintos said.

It so happened that at the time, someone had a copy of the late actor's movie "Got 2 Believe" with Claudine Barretto on the set. Quintos then showed Maurer the movie.

"Siguro na-realize niya na medyo kamukha niya because he ended watching the whole film," Quintos said.

Maurer is set to fly back in Manila on Sunday for the premire night of "Suddenly It's Magic" on Tuesday.

Erich on non-showbiz flame: 'He's very special to me'

MANILA, Phillippines -- Erich Gonzales is intent on keeeping the identity of her new source of inspiration under wraps.

The Kapamilya actress appeared cautious in answering questions on his relationship with her non-showbiz flame, who she first admitted to be "dating" in March this year.

"Hindi naman ako nagde-deny, sinasabi ko naman sa mga past interviews ko na I'm dating a non-showbiz guy, over a year na, and na sa right age naman na ako," Gonzales told ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of a recent press conference for her upcoming film "Suddenly It's Magic," which premieres on October 31.

The "Maria la del Barrio" star said she prefers to keep matters regarding her love life private out of respect to the man's family.

"He's non-showbiz pero naiintindihan niya 'yung work ko, and he's very supportive," said Gonzales, who will be paired with Thai superstar Mario Maurer in the upcoming romantic-comedy flick.

"'Yun lang po muna 'yung mase-share ko bilang respeto sa family niya, sa kanya, dahil hindi naman po sila sanay sa ganito," she added.

Quizzed on her supposed "preference" to be in a relationship with someone who is not from showbiz, Gonzales said her current flame just happened to come along.

"Mas okay, mas tahimik, and dumating na lang, it just happened," said Gonzales, who was formerly linked to her "love team" partner, actor Enchong Dee.

Prodded to share more details on the boy's identity, she said: "Basta, I'm very happy and he's very special to me, 'yun nalang po muna mase-share ko."
