Shamcey Supsup, Lloyd Lee tie the knot

MANILA – Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup married long-time boyfriend, businessman Lloyd Lee, on Sunday.

The wedding was held at the Church of the Risen Lord inside the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City where Supsup got her degree in architecture.

In a post on the image-sharing site Instagram, Supsup’s pageant mentor Jonas Antonio Gaffud posted a short clip of the beauty queen as she walked down the aisle with the song “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri in the background.

Supsup was wearing a champagne-colored wedding gown designed by Cherry Veric, while Lee wore a suit of the same shade.

Supsup and Lee first met during the birthday-cum-victory party of the beauty queen in May 2011. This then led to their first date which eventually developed into a relationship.

After two years of being sweethearts, Supsup got engaged to Lee for over a year before they finally tied the knot.

In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, the couple said they won’t be having their honeymoon immediately after the wedding as their priority would be to first finish their new home.

Supsup, however, said they will be spending their honeymoon in Europe as they are set to fly there on Holy Week.

Shamcey Supsup is new host of interior design show

MANILA -- Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup now has her own television show.

Supsup, a licensed architect, has replaced Angel Aquino as the host of the interior design show "Interior Motives," which is set to air its second season next month.

The beauty queen said she is excited for her newest project which, she called a dream come true.

"I'm so excited about this because it's really a fun way of showing architecture, interior design. You won't be bored. It's a mix of everything," Supsup told reporters on Thursday.

"After the (Miss Universe) pageant I said to my manager that I really want a show that would not be far from where I came from, which is construction and design, but still do hosting which I learned to love after two years of doing stints. So ito na 'yon, ito na 'yung culmination of everything that I've prepared for," she added.

The topnotcher in the 2010 Architecture Board Exams went on to share what viewers can expect from her show.

"We have a segment wherein we go to an interesting space and we will talk to the owner or the designer, where you can get inspiration for your houses or spaces," she said.

"The second segment is where we will showcase an architect, interior designer or furniture designer and how he has done his designs [as well as] his inspirations. The focus is on the designer. The third one is the tool kit, where they recommend certain tools that you can use when you are designing or renovating your house," Supsup said.

Joining Supsup on the second season of "Interior Motives" are interior designers and sisters Cynthia and Ivy Almario. The two will be in a new segment called "Project: Makeover," where they will turn otherwise empty spaces into beautiful places.

Second time's the charm: Janine Tugonon is 2012 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe

MANILA, Philippines--She may have only placed 1st runner up in 2011 but this year, Janine Tugonon wears the crown as Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2012.

Tugonan, a BS Pharmacy cum laude graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, bested 23 other candidates in last night's biggest search for the country's most beautiful woman who will compete for this year's Miss Universe competition in December.

The 22-year-old Bataan native placed 1st runner up in 2011, when architect Shamcey Supsup won the crown and eventually placed 3rd in the Miss Universe.

Although she was barely noticed during the competition and didn't win any other special prize, Tugonan won the judges over during the question-and-answer round.

When pageant judge Jose Manuel Rodriguez asked Tugonon, "Many women nowadays forego a happy family life for a successful career. How do you feel about this?”

She answered: "I believe that women have the right to choose between what they want. But for me, just go for what God wants you to do. Between the two, whatever it is, you must do your purpose in this world. Just have a child-like faith and mature obedience, and everything will go smooth.”

After the Q&A round, Tugonon was judged as the winner, while Nicole Schmitz was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-International and Katrina Dimaranan as Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism.

Schmitz and Dimaranan will both compete later this year.

Completing the top 5 were Elaine Moll (1st runner up)and Ann Forbes (2nd runner up).

Will she win?

Following a back-to-back Top 5 finish in the Miss Universe competition, popular beauty pageant blog Missosology.org posed a question on its website, whether or not Tugonon will fare better in the competition or make an early farewell?

As of 5 pm, most of the respondents said Tugonan might likely be "out" of the Top 5 owing to her lackluster pre-pageant performance.

But there are those who said Tugonon might be the dark horse of the competition and make a three-peat of the Top 5 performance for the country.

Since 2010, the Philippines has been placing in the Top 5 of the Miss Universe pageant. Venus Raj finished at Top 5, following what many saw was a blunder in the Q&A round. Supsup followed in 2011 with a Top 3 finish.

The last time the Philippines placed higher than Top 3 was in 1999 when UST-alumna Miriam Quiambao placed 2nd in the competition.

The Philippines currently has two Miss Universe winners: Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.
