Atom Araullo marks birthday on 'UKG'

MANILA -- Broadcast journalist Atom Araullo celebrated his birthday on "Umagang Kay Ganda" on Tuesday, one day before he turns 34 on Wednesday.

Araullo thanked his "UKG" family for being part of his "morning routine ko for the past years."

"Siyempre 'yung family ko na lagi akong ginigising kapag 'di ako nagigising ng umaga, at sa lahat ng mga manood na na hindi nakakalimot, thank you, thank you," he added.

Gerald Anderson's foundation to train therapy dogs

MANILA -- Actor Gerald Anderson on Wednesday shared that his own foundation, which aims to save lives by training dogs for search and rescue operations, has branched out to training therapy dogs as well.

In an interview on "Umagang Kay Ganda," the actor announced that the Gerald Anderson Foundation Inc., which was launched last March, has a new The Angel Dog Program.

"Lumaki na po yung foundation," he said. "We are training dogs ng basic obedience, tricks, tapos dadalhin namin sa hospital para bisitahin ang mga bata, mga cancer patient."

Anderson created the foundation after his experience during typhoon Ondoy in 2009, when he braved the floods to save people in need.

ABS-CBN News reporter Atom Araullo resigns from reportorial duties

Netizens have different reactions to the said news.

Some rumors said that Atom opted to resign mainly because of his strong opinions about the controversy surrounding the burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos in which some people accused him of being a biased reporter, thereby affecting the integrity of the News Department.

Unfortunately, it is true. Atom has decided to drop all his duties as a reporter for TV Patrol, Bandila, and ANC to explore opportunities and pursue his other interests.

According to Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs:

“Atom Araullo had filed his resignation from his reportorial duties but will remain an on camera talent of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs as an anchor in Umagang Kay Ganda and Red Alert. He said he arrived at this decision to be able to pursue other endeavors that would also help him grow as a journalist and as a host. He is aware that the news organization has included him in its future plans and will continue to assign him stories, coverage and events, befitting his position as a journalist.”

Araullo became a segment producer for ABS-CBN then eventually became a field reporter a couple of years after.

MANILA – ABS-CBN reporter and host Atom Araullo is as charming as ever as he appears on the pages of a local travel magazine.

Araullo is featured in the latest issue of Explore Philippines magazine, where he is seen posing on a motorcycle and enjoying a meal, among others.

Netizens were abuzz last month as Araullo was linked to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach while he was interviewing her via satellite on the ABS-CBN show “Umagang Kay Ganda”.

The two had the chance to meet face-to-face when Wurtzbach visited the ABS-CBN compound.

Kakai asked if Ahron is her son

MANILA -- "Your Face Sounds Familiar" celebrity contestant Kakai Bautista admitted that she and rumored boyfriend Ahron Villena were mistaken for being mother and son when they were in Japan.

In an interview on "Umagang Kay Ganda" on Wednesday, Bautista explained that this is the reason why Villena jokingly calls her "Mom."

"Nakakaloka na mom 'yung tawag niya sa akin kasi napagkamalan talaga kaming mag-ina sa Japan. Ang supal (kapal) ng face ng immigration officer ng Japan, napagkamalan niya ako... 'Is he your son?' Sabi ko, 'No, he is my friend.' Tapos nag-sorry siya, 'I'm very sorry.' Sabi ko, 'It's okay just let me pass.' Nakakatuwa," Bautista recalled.

Asked of her term of endearment for Villena, Bautista was quick to say: "Love. ...Ganoon talaga, platonic, motherly."

Bautista shared that their friendship also started when they were in Japan.

"Close lang po. Masaya lang po, masaya. Steady lang po," she said of their relationship.

This weekend, Bautista is set to impersonate Donna Summer on "Your Face Sounds Familiar."
