What Kris Aquino tells critics of 'sunburn joke'
MANILA - Kris Aquino is a survivor.
The 44-year-old Aquino made that clear in an Instagram post, addressed to those criticizing her for joking about the plight of commuters during the height of the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting held in Manila.
Late Friday, the television host shared to her more than 2.2 million followers on Instagram that recent events caused her blood pressure to shoot up.
"Good news for all those who can't stand me yet keep reading up on me, [keep]forwarding, [keep] commenting, [and] are affected sa posts ko," she wrote.
And as if proving to critics that she hasn't lost her sense of humor amid all the flak, she quipped that Filipinos may have to deal with her for around four more decades, describing herself as a "masamang damo."
"I was conversing with former president [Fidel] Ramos and asked about his good health and long life the other night, and he said 'matibay ang masamang damo.' So, OMG! Baka I'll be around for 40 [plus] more years?"
"Pero if you really want to get rid of me, pray that Datin Rosmah [Mansor] of Malaysia or [Ho Ching] Lee of Singapore will be successful in matching me [with one] of their countrymen --both said they'd be looking," she added.
Aquino, the youngest daughter of Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late former president Corazon Aquino, then turned sentimental and reminisced about "surviving" the Martial Law years.
"From infancy, I survived seven years and seven months of Martial Law na nakakulong ang Dad namin, I survived having him assassinated, I survived all the coup attempts when literally outside my bedroom window nagbabarilan."
"I survived falling from a 12-foot high stage, I survived being disowned by my family for a wrong choice of the heart, I was blessed with forgiveness and reconciliation with my family, I survived losing our Mom to cancer, I survived losing a big part of my savings and my sons' during my annulment."
"I survive as a single parent raising a child in the autism spectrum as well as an 8 year old who is even more opinionated than me, and I survived all the venom thrown at me on social media throughout the campaign and [President Benigno Aquino III's] presidency."
"But I remain one of our country's top taxpayers, I still endorse and represent so many top brands and institutions, I've donated and built homes, schools, and Churches, and I've given numerous educational assistance to students and seminarians. In other words, I'M GREAT AT SURVIVING, been doing it my whole life."

Why Maria Ozawa wants to apologize to Kris
MANILA - Former porn star Maria Ozawa wants to apologize to Kris Aquino after a "report" from a satirical news website, which quoted both of them to have insulted each other, misled netizens as it went viral in recent weeks.
The Japanese performer, who took the stage at FHM Bro-Con over the weekend, addressed the issue on the sidelines of the event held at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
"I was surprised," she told reporters. "I don't know who said it first, but everybody was making a big deal out of it. If I have a chance to speak to her (Aquino) one day, I'll just apologize."
The satirical website, Manila Link, published the fake report after Ozawa said she was willing to date President Benigno Aquino III, the brother of Kris.
"Ilang lalake na gumamit sa kanya?" Kris supposedly said, referring to Ozawa.
Another fake story from the same website then quoted Ozawa to have said, responding to Kris, "Not as many as you."
Kris earlier denied making any statement against Ozawa. In a statement to PEP.ph, the TV host said: "I was never asked, so how can I comment? ... Sa akin lang, kung mag-iingay, sana huwag na akong gamitin."
Maria Ozawa X UNO Magazine from UNO MAGAZINE on Vimeo.
Meanwhile, in a video interview with men's magazine UNO, Ozawa also denied saying anything against Kris. Like the ABS-CBN star, Ozawa said she was never asked on the matter.
"I never had that interview," she said. "I was wondering who made that story up and why they would do such a thing, to make it look like we're fighting. I was surprised. Why would people do that? I'm so sorry for everybody."
Asked if she was serious about her earlier statement about dating the President, Ozawa answered: "It was a joke! I'm sorry about people making it so serious and it became news. I'm sorry."
Ozawa is returning to the Philippines next month to start filming "Nilalang," wherein she will co-star with Robin Padilla. The horror film, which marks her local showbiz debut, is one of eight entries in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival.

2 irate men tell Kris to 'get out of my way'
MANILA - Two irate men told Kris Aquino to "get out of my f***ing way" while in line at an airport Wednesday -- a "stressful" incident she narrated on Instagram on the same evening.
Aquino, 44, posted an image with the quote, "It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice," pertaining to how she handled the encounter at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
The "Feng Shui" actress and her two sons, Josh and Bimby, were on their way home to Manila when the men, who were ahead of her in line to check in at a Philippine Airlines counter, allegedly berated her.
She narrated: "[I was] respectful of [their] space... Na-shock ako when as they were exiting I was told, 'Get out of my f***ing way because I want to get out of this f***ing country.' 'Di ko sila hinaharangan, nakapila kami properly. I chose to keep my dignity and didn't reply.
"Sobrang stressful that when my sons and I got to the plane, they were seated near us. I just prayed that sana hindi na sila magpaka bastos my sons and I just get back to Manila safely."
Aquino pointed out that she could have answered back, but chose not to, saying it would be easy for her detractors to make the situation appear she was in the wrong.
"I was actually within my rights if you think about it na makipagmurahan, since unprovoked yung pagmura nila directed at me... But what for? Sobrang daling mabaliktad ang kwento and the 'haters' will find a way to make it appear na ako 'yung masama," she said.
Aquino added: "But headed home in traffic now and realizing that God saw what happened & somehow my turning the other cheek must account for some good girl points."
Recalling she obliged to requests for photos despite the situation, and before boarding and during the flight, Aquino pointed out in her post that "we all have our burdens, we have difficulties, but it is character that defines how we carry them. And it is conducting your life with dignity that will help you live a life of peace."
The youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III also shared a lesson she learned from her mother, the late former President Corazon Aquino, as it applies to her encounter at the airport.
She said: "People in public life live under a magnifying glass... And it's something I trained myself to live with. My mom always reminded me 'to whom much is given, much is expected in return.'
"One thing I am proud of, is regardless of all the criticism hurled at me and my family, nobody can ever say nag power trip kami."

WATCH: Bimby reacts to Kris' swimsuit photo
MANILA – It seems that Kris Aquino did not tell her youngest son that she will be showing off her summer-ready body in a photo shoot for an entertainment magazine.
In the Wednesday episode of “Kris TV,” eight-year-old Bimby asked Aquino why she had to wear a bathing suit in the pictorial.
To which, his mother answered: “Last na nga 'yun. Bimb because they are showcasing the best of the Philippines. So how can I be in Coron and not wear a bathing suit?”
Aquino then told Bimby that she considers it an honor “to be on the cover of the 15th anniversary of the most beautiful.”
“Bimb naman ‘di ba, ma-proud ka naman sa mama mo. You’re not proud that you have a beautiful mama?” she asked.
But Bimby’s reply surprised Aquino.
“I am proud [but] it’s gross, showing off,” he said. “Moms should not wear bathing suits.”
Aquino then reasoned with Bimby by citing Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum and Jessica Alba, who already have kids but still wear swimsuits.
Bimby, however, was firm in saying he didn’t like Aquino’s pictures.
“I don’t want you to be in a bathing suit. I don’t want guys to say you’re hot,” he said.
Apparently, Bimby saw Aquino’s pictures through the TV host’s Instagram page.
Last week, Aquino shared in the image-sharing site some of the outtakes from the photo shoot which will appear in Yes! Magazine.
In one of the captions, Aquino said she had fun doing the pictorial while also appreciating the “beauty and majesty” of the Philippines.

Kris, son Bimby in road mishap
MANILA - TV host Kris Aquino and her son, actor Bimby Aquino-Yap, Jr., figured in a minor road accident on the way to a shoot on Tuesday.
On Instagram, Aquino narrated the incident that happened along EDSA.
"Unfortunately on our way to our shoot, on EDSA 2 armored cars abruptly changed lanes swerving to lanes to the right, the vehicle in front of us made a sudden stop," the 44-year-old actress said. "Our brakes were good and we were all wearing seatbelts but we were bumped by the car immediately behind us."
She added: "I wanted to be a professional and finish our commitment, but Bimb and I are really feeling dizzy from the impact and I want to make sure we're both okay."

Kris defends PNoy in speech before QC police
MANILA - Actress-host Kris Aquino on Monday came to the defense of her brother, President Benigno
Aquino III, in her speech during the the Quezon City Police District's celebration of National Women's Month.
Kris, who was tapped as a guest speaker for the event, uploaded her full speech on her personal blog. She stressed that as "a product woman of courage," she can vouch for the President's sincerity and trustworthiness.
This, amid calls for Aquino to resign following the controversial Mamasapano encounter that claimed the lives of 44 Special Action Forces commandos.
Referring to her brother, Kris said: "The past month has been one of the most difficult and painful in his almost five years as president."
"It was a difficult time for all of us, and there were nights I’d be crying while texting with my Kuya," said Kris, who is the youngest of five children of democracy icons Ninoy and Corazon Aquino.
"Meron akong isang post na nakita, nasa kabaong sya, si PNoy at umiiyak ako—phinoto-shop 'yun from the time our Mom was in Manila Cathedral," she added, referring to the wake of the late former president.
Corazon Aquino, who heeded calls for her to seek presidency after the assassination of Ninoy, succumbed to colon cancer in 2009.
"I told my brother, napakahirap ang manahimik lalo na pag ang mahal mo sa buhay ang winawalanghiya. Simple ang sagot ng Kuya ko, Kristina, 'pag lumabas ang katotohanan, titigil na rin sila," she said.
President Aquino has become the subject of criticism amid allegations that he treated coldly some family members of the Fallen 44 during their private meetings.
Even relatives of the Aquinos -- Corazon's brother Peping Cojuangco and his wife Tingting, both former politicians -- criticized the President for the administration's supposed mishandling of the Mamasapano operation.
Kris continued: "Hindi madali maging bunsong kapatid ng pangulo, mas mahirap kumpara sa panahon na bunsong anak ako ng pangulo. You may ask me why? Because our mother was our strength, our shield, and our protector.
"That’s why I’m here in front of all of you today. Because I am a product of a woman of courage. But just like I text PNoy on his birthday, lahat ng masasakit na salita and personal na pambabatikos hindi ko lang haharapin kung 'di buong tapang kong ipamumukha na hindi nila kami mabubuwag. Pamilya kaming nagmamahalan."
The actress-host emphasized that Aquino, who has put at the forefront of his presidency his fight against corruption, has made true on his promise on his promise.
"Taas nuo, kaya kong ipagmalaki sa lahat, na ang Kuya ko, tapat, maka-tao, hindi mapang abuso, humble, sincere, and above all else trustworthy. Hindi siya perpekto, si Pangulong Noynoy Aquino inalagaan at pinalago ang kaban ng bayan. Walang binulsa," Kris said.
Pointing out that the salaries of policemen have gone up since her brother assumed office, Kris said: "I am also here for the men who have been awarded today, and sana mapaabot ninyo ito, to all the other men in QCPD I am here to remind you to love your mothers kung buhay pa sila, tawagan nyo sila after this ceremony to thank them, because you are what you are today, men of dignity, discipline, and honor because of the love, caring, and nourishing they showered you with."
Kris also shared a light moment as he urged those in the police force to stay faithful to their partners. "If you’re married, please stay faithful. Grabe ang sacrifice nila, ng nga misis ninyo, 'yung worry sa safety niyo, 'yung adjustment sa oras, 'yung pag alaga sa inyo at sa mga kids niyo, and keeping the house running efficiently and happy. Huwag naman dagdagan ang stress kung mambabae pa kayo?"
"To all the wives, please tell them that I said, alagaan nila ang mga sarili nila, Makisig ang kanilang mga asawa, dapat manatiling maganda, sexy, at mapangakit pa rin si misis. Pag alaga ka sa sarili mo, walang dahilan para mag selos pa. Pag day off, gawan niyo naman ng paraan na mag-date kayo."

6 tips to look good in selfies
MANILA - Are you a fan of taking selfies? In-demand lensman Mark Nicdao has a few tips on taking quality self-portraits that will present you in literally the best light.
On "Kris TV," Nicdao coaches host Kris Aquino on things to consider when taking selfies. These include adequate lighting.
"Kung saan may pinakamalakas na ilaw... Halimbawa, window lighting pag nasa bahay ka. Tapat ka lang sa ilaw," he said.
The best natural lighting for taking selfies, Nicdao added, is around 7 a.m. or 5 p.m. He called this the "magic hour."
If you're taking a selfie with someone or a group, Nicdao advised to have the person with the longest arm or reach hold the camera. This will make you appear farther from the lens.
Nicdao also had tips to look more slim in your selfies.
If with a group, stay behind your friend. You can also extend your chin to avoid the appearance of a "double chin." For women or men with long hair, you may also opt to place your hair on the sides of your face.
Before you take a mirror selfie, Nicdao advised to study your best angle.
Agreeing with Nicdao's tips, Aquino added: "Normally naman, hindi mag-se-selfie pag malungkot ka, eh. Ang ma-si-share mong selfie, happy ka, so you're sharing good times with people... In taking a selfie, you have to feel beautiful."
