Tigers shrug off shaky start to beat Falcons


MANILA, Philippines – University of Sto. Tomas (UST) scored its second straight victory by defeating Adamson University, 67-62, on Saturday’s 76th UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tigers shook off a wobbly start by unleashing a 14-0 run while clamping on the Falcons in the third quarter.

This allowed the EspaƱa-based dribblers to gain a 55-43 lead midway the fourth.

Kevin Ferrer paced UST with 17 points, while Jeric Teng chipped in 15.

Adamson’s Ingrid Sewa scored 13 points, although he was greatly limited in the second half.

Jericho Cruz topscored for the Falcons with 15 points, but was largely ineffective in the dying minutes of the game.

This was UST’s second win after beating De La Salle, 63-58, in the opener. The Tigers are now tied with Far Eastern University (FEU) atop the standings.
