'Depressed' Angelica to quit showbiz?

MANILA – Angelica Panganiban is supposedly mulling to quit showbiz due to depression after she and John Lloyd Cruz reportedly called it quits.

Talent manager Ogie Diaz, quoting a source, reported on his radio show last Saturday that the couple have broken up.

Speaking on his DZMM show “Mismo” on Wednesday, Jobert Sucaldito said Panganiban is supposedly planning to leave for the United States and stay there for good.

“Depressed na depressed daw siya to the point na gusto na niya mag-quit sa showbiz at doon siya manirahan sa America with her family. ‘Di ba na-meet naman niya 'yung father niya? Parang gusto na daw niya mag-quit sa showbiz,” he said.

Currently, Panganiban is part of the Sunday gag show “Banana Sundae” and she is also a part of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.”

However, the hit primetime series is now down to its last three weeks and there is still no word as to what project Panganiban will work on next.

Panganiban and Cruz have yet to break their silence on their supposed breakup.

John Lloyd addresses breakup rumors with Angelica

MANILA - Actor John Lloyd Cruz has finally spoken on the issue that he and actress Angelica Panganiban have ended their relationship.

In an interview on the set of "Maalaala Mo Kaya" in Bataan on Thursday, Cruz stressed that everything is okay between him and Panganiban, saying that they are happy together.

"We are okay, we are okay. We are happy to be together," he said.

"Kahit na working week ito, for me somehow we still managed na magkaroon kami ng oras sa isa't isa, makita ko siya," he added.

Cruz said he is already used to rumors that he and Panganiban have already called it quits.

"Sanay na kami sa mga tanga-tangang balita... Parang kung mapipikon ako, hindi sa mga ganyang klaseng sabi-sabi. Parang kung mapipikon ako, dapat noon pa ako napikon, lalo na sa mga taong hindi dapat nabubuhay sa mundo," he said.

Birthday wish

Cruz, who turned 32 on Wednesday, said he just had a simple celebration with Panganiban and his family.

"Very, very typical day para sa pamilya namin. 'Yun naman ang goal ko, ayaw ko mag-celebrate, actually. Actually, gusto ko mag-celebrate kapag birthday ng iba pero hindi ko lang alam bakit this time parang ayaw ko. Siguro nga dahil medyo busy. So okay lang, mag-trabaho na lang," he said.

When asked about his birthday wish, the actor replied: "Actually, wala na akong mahihiling pa. I'm very much content with my life. I'm very much content kasi hindi nawawala ang desire ko to work, hindi nawawala ang passion ko to do more and it's evolving for the past couple of years. And siyempre, hindi naman mawawala ang hits and misses so you can't be always on top. Ang importante, you have to desire to do more, to become better, a better version of yourself. Kung sa labas noon, ano pa ba ang mahihiling ko, baka hindi na para sa akin, maaring para sa magulang ko na lang."

Because work remains a priority for Cruz, the actor admitted that he is still not yet ready to have a family of his own.

Pressed to answer if he considers Panganiban as wife material, he said: "Oo naman. Napaka-swerte -- kung hindi man ako -- napakaswerte ng mapapangasawa niya. Wala lang, mayroon tayong kanya-kanyang idea, konsepto ng kung ano ang gusto nating makasama habambuhay. Hindi naman pwedeng puro ganda at puro talino. Hindi ba importante rin na kaya mong patawanin ang partner mo, masarap magluto at talagang yung connection niyo can go beyond what you can imagine, what you can experience? So dapat ganoon kalalim, dapat talaga malaking factor na magkaibigan kayo."

'MMK'

Cruz is now busy taping scenes for his "Maalaala Mo Kaya" comeback episode, which will be aired this June 27 after "The Voice Kids."

The episode is also her reunion project with his "Tabing Ilog" leading lady, Kaye Abad.

After seven years, Cruz will return to "MMK" to play the character of Tarik, a son who wanted to forget his past after his family broke apart and his mother, Espie (played by Agot Isidro), became severely depressed.

After an accident, Tarik was separated from his mom and tried to move on and forget his painful childhood. Tarik's life changed when he decided to search for his mother in the province where he met Rea (Kaye Abad), the woman who became the love of his life.

Joining Cruz and Abad in the "MMK" episode this Saturday are Harvey Bautista, Marlann Flores, Nico Antonio, Jong Cuenco, Sonjia Calit and Maila Gumila.

After this episode with Abad, Cruz is set to do three more for "MMK."

"We are doing one yung dystonia, it's a rare disease, para siyang ALS. Ganoon siya ka-rare at ganoon siya kahirap. I'm doing one with Bea (Alonzo) at yung [last], 'yun ang pinag-uusapan pa," he said.

The actor went on to say that he does not see himself doing an episode with his girlfriend, Panganiban.

"Hindi pa din namin makuhang maniwala na kaya naming magtrabaho ni Angelica. Mahihirapan akong maniwala na makita siyang ibang tao," he said, noting that he already knows his girlfriend too well.

What John Lloyd thinks of Angelica's acting skills

MANILA - Actor John Lloyd Cruz shared his thoughts about his girlfriend, Angelica Panganiban, who recently won Best Actress from the Gawad Tanglaw.

Panganiban won the award in a tie with her idol, veteran actress Nora Aunor, for her performance in the romantic film "That Thing Called Tadhana." Aunor, on the other hand, starred in the horror movie "Dementia."

Referring to Panganiban's performance in "Tadhana," Cruz said: "Grabe, hindi ba? Ang galing kasi kahit sa ganoong scale, sa ganoong attempt, 'yung talent talagang nagsha-shine. Kahit gawin mo sa ganoong scale, if it's meant to shine, in that sense parang hindi mo siya mapipigilan. Kaya sobra akong happy [para sa kanya]."

He went on to describe his girlfriend's acting skills.

"Kilala ko siya as an artist, very organic, very truthful sa dedication at sa craft niya. Alam mo kung paano siya magtrabaho so I couldn't be more proud," he said.

Meanwhile, Cruz also praised Panganiban's portrayal of Claudia Buenavista, which was originally played by Jean Garcia, in ABS-CBN's remake of the hit series "Pangako Sa 'Yo."

While he only saw the teaser for the remake starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, Cruz said: "Nakita ko 'yung trailer nila ni Jodi Sta. Maria. Very powerful. Kilala ko rin si Jodi as an artist. I think malaki 'yung masasandalan nung team-up nila Daniel at Kathryn. Parang maganda 'yung presence ng dalawa para sa kanila."

Derek: I have a non-showbiz girlfriend

MANILA – More than a year after breaking up with actress Angelica Panganiban, actor Derek Ramsay revealed he has found love again.

In an interview with entertainment columnist Ricky Lo as published in The Philippine Star on Monday, Ramsay admitted that he is currently in a relationship but refused to divulge her identity.

“I have a girlfriend but she’s not from showbiz. I guess I have learned my lesson,” he said.

Ramsay reportedly told Lo that he does not want to have another relationship with anyone from show business ever again.

“It’s magulo,” he explained.

Ramsay and Panganiban decided to end their relationship in March 2012 -- two months before he confirmed it on the microblogging site Twitter.

“I think it was the right decision to make so that it wouldn’t end up horrible and an ugly mess of a breakup. So, I think we handled it well,” he said at the time.

Ramsay insisted that there was no third party in their separation.

According to the former Kapamilya actor, he and Panganiban broke up a month before Panganiban and actor John Lloyd Cruz flew to Vietnam to shoot their scenes for the upcoming Star Magic movie "24/7 in Love."

Panganiban has been with Cruz since July 2012.

Meanwhile, Ramsay’s recent admission about his new love also put an end to speculations linking him to several actresses including Nadine Samonte and Cristine Reyes.

Ramsay has repeatedly maintained that he is only friends with the two actresses, adding that they are just “barkadas” since they have all worked together.

Angelica details breakup with Derek

MANILA, Philippines -- Angelica Panganiban's six-year relationship with Derek Ramsay ended over the phone.

In an interview in the April 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio, the 26-year-old Kapamilya actress recalled the day when the model-actor allegedly broke up with her after years of unresolved conflicts.

According to Panganiban, Ramsay was in Boracay for a professional commitment and vacation when they had an argument over the phone some time in February 2012.

The actress related that in the heat of their argument, Ramsay suddenly asked her: "Ano ba'ng nararamdaman mo?"

Panganiban recalled saying that she prefers addressing the question personally, once he gets back from vacation, but Ramsay pushed for an answer.

"Wala. Wala na 'kong nararamdaman," she responded.

Ramsay's only answer, according to Panganiban was: "Okay, it's over."

In the years leading up to their separation, the former celebrity couple had to grapple with several problems that later proved difficult to handle.

Among them, Panganiban related in detail to StarStudio, were three major conflicts -- Ramsay's being allegedly a controlling boyfriend, his supposed lack of support for the actress' mission to find her biological father, and his reported marriage to a certain Mary Christine Jolly in 2002.

On the set of the romantic-comedy movie "Every Breath U Take," which she was filming at the time of the breakup, Panganiban said she cried uncontrollably.

"Hindi ko alam kung naiiyak ako dahil nasabi ko siya. Yes, para talaga akong nakatakas, ganoon 'yung pakiramdam ko, pero at the same time, angsakit-sakit. Hindi ko alam kung tama, kung kaya ko panindigan," she said.

The following day, Panganiban recalled, she moved out her things from the house she had shared with Ramsay for five years, with the help of her mother Annabelle.

When Ramsay learned that the actress had already picked up her belongings from their shared home, the actor, Panganiban recalled, messaged her: "Let's fix this."

But for Panganiban, the breakup was a way of finally being set free. Refusing her former boyfriend's plea, she told herself: "Hindi, may way out ka na, nakalabas ka na. Huwag ka nang bumalik."

Ramsay confirmed his separation from Panganiban in May 2012.

In the April 2013 issue of StarStudio, out in newsstands now, Paganiban also retraces her beginnings as an actress after 20 years in the industry. She also recalls her romance with former boyfriend Carlo Aquino, and opens up on her relationship with current partner John Lloyd Cruz.

Angelica denies rift with Angel

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angelica Panganiban finally spoke on the issue that there is a growing rift between her and her fellow Kapamilya star, Angel Locsin.

This after it was discussed in blogs that they had a misunderstanding while filming scenes for the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture "One More Try".

Locsin reportedly got hurt after Panganiban slapped her hard and pulled her hair in one of the scenes.

Panganiban reacted to this, saying that she only wanted to make the scene more realistic.

"Alam mo, 'yung mga ganoong eksena, mahirap siya. Kapag pineke mo 'yun mas halata, mas nakakatawa lang 'yung kalalabasan ng eksena. So mahirap dayain ang mga ganoon," she explained to ABS-CBNnews.com.

"Sabi ko nga kung may mapipikon o magagalit eh napaka-unprofessional naman para maramdaman ng artista 'yon, na personal-in ang eksena."

Asked if she and Locsin are on good terms, Panganiban said: "Sa trabaho naman, masyado siyang seryoso sa trabaho niya. Kaya ganoon din kaganda ang performance niya sa 'Once More Try' dahil ganoon siya ka-focused sa trabaho. Talagang halos naka-shut down ang mundo niya, nandoon siya sa character niya pagdating pa lang niya. Pero nakikisama naman siya, hindi naman namin sinasabi na parang hindi na namin siya kilala. May mga panahon naman na may eksenang magagaan, 'yun, nakakausap namin siya."

Panganiban was honest enough to admit that she and Locsin did not become close friends after filming "One More Try", but hopes that they will have more time to "bond" in the future.

"Sa susunod siguro may mabubuo, pero sa ganito ka-heavy na pelikula, mabigat para magkaroon ng bonding moments," she said.

Still, Panganiban assured that everything is fine between her and Locsin.

Angelica did not tell John Lloyd about love scenes

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Angelica Panganiban did not feel the need tell her boyfriend, actor John Lloyd Cruz, about her love scenes with actor Dingdong Dantes in the movie “One More Try.”

In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Panganiban said she does not want Cruz to worry about her as he is also busy at work.

“Unang una, hindi ko naman po sinasabi sa kanya na [intimate scenes] ang kukunan namin today. Siyempre ayaw mo naman na may iniisip siyang ganun habang nagtatrabaho rin naman ho siya,” she explained.

Panganiban considers “One More Try” her most daring movie to date.

“Yes, so far [ito ang pinakamapangahas]. Siya yung pinakamalalim, ito yung pinakakritikal na gawin, masyadong maselan yung pelikula,” she said.

Despite this, the actress said she and Dantes did not feel awkward while doing their love scenes.

“Sabi nga ni Dingdong kanina, simula February pa lang, nakukuwento na po sa amin ang movie so buong taon na po namin parang pinoproseso ang pelikula so ganun na rin kahaba yung naging pinagsamahan naming lahat,” she said.

Apart from her scenes with Dantes, Panganiban said moviegoers should also watch out for her confrontation scene with actress Angel Locsin.

“Imposible ho ‘yung 'di madadala sa eksena kasi parang 'pag nag-control ka, baka ho sumablay at makikita ho iyon ng tao, parang ‘di totoo ‘yung sampal. Hindi ho siguro magandang term ‘yung nadala. Parang ibinigay lang ho namin [ni Angel] parehas kung ano ‘yung hinihingi sa amin,” she said.

“One More Try” is one of Star Cinema’s entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. It will be shown in theaters nationwide beginning December 25.

Angelica on meeting Shaina: 'Hindi siya big deal'

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angelica Panganiban and boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz are no longer interested in talking about their past relationships.

In an interview during a press conference for the 4th anniversary of "Banana Split," Panganiban said what is important now is what she have with Cruz and their future together.

"Hindi naman namin 'yon napag-uusapan. I don't think issue siya. Wala, hindi siya big deal. Siguro ang importante ay 'yung ngayon at yung future. 'Yung past kaya natapos 'yon kasi may ibig sabihin," Panganiban said when asked if there's a move to iron things put between her and Cruz's former girlfriend Shaina Magdayao.

Asked if she, Cruz and Magdayao are okay, Panganiban replied: "Hindi naman kami nagkikita, hindi naman kami nagkukulong sa isang kwarto para magyakapan. Wala namang ganoon."

In the interview, Panganiban also agreed with Cruz's stand that it would be better for them not work to together.

"Mahirap, nakakailang," said Panganiban, who started to know more Cruz during the Vietnam shoot for the upcoming Star Magic anniversary movie "24/7 In Love."

Panganiban said if she were the one guesting on "The Buzz" last Sunday, when Cruz admitted their relationship, she would have done the same thing.
