Sam Concepcion confirms relationship with Jasmine
MANILA – “I guess so. Oo.”
This was the confirmation from Sam Concepcion when asked on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday if he and Jasmine Curtis are now officially a couple.
Host Boy Abunda asked the singer-actor the candid question to clarify surrounding reports that Jasmine’s elder sister, actress Anne Curtis, confronted him at Vice Ganda’s birthday party last month.
Although he has already spoken about it before, Concepcion reiterated that he and Anne have already settled the issue and are now okay.
“Yes, there was a confrontation that happened. She did go up to me and she talked to me. Hindi ko naman po sasabihin na hindi nangyari 'yun. Pero all for the good of everybody, naiintindihan ko siyempre. Kasi kung ako may nakababatang kapatid, siyempre gusto kong i-test 'yung manliligaw,” he said.
The singer-actor, however, explained that he did not expect it to happen that’s why he appeared shocked as was earlier reported by an online entertainment site.
“Nung nangyari po 'yun, my friends who were also in the party said, ‘Halika na, I think we should go.’ I was a bit of shocked and I just kind of… umalis na lang din ako,” he said.
As far as he knows, Jasmine’s family likes him as he has a good relationship with the actress’ parents.
Prodded if he thinks Anne also likes him for her sister, he said, “I think she’s for Jasmine’s happiness naman. Siyempre she does her part to stand up for her.”
Meanwhile, Concepcion played down intrigues linking him to his “Mirabella” co-star Julia Barretto.
“[Julia and I] work with each other for ‘Mirabella.’ Lumaki nang lumaki 'yung storya. Even she said hindi niya alam kung saan nanggagaling 'yung intriga,” he said.
In an earlier interview, Barretto said she only sees Concepcion as a big brother since they have worked together back when she was still young.

Jasmine surprised with Cinemalaya win
MANILA – Young actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith still can't believe that she won in the recently concluded Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival for her very first movie.
The younger sister of Kapamilya talent Anne Curtis bagged the best supporting actress award for her role in “Transit,” which was entered in the “New Breed” category of the popular indie film fest.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News after the awarding ceremonies on Sunday, the young actress said she did not expect to win as joining the festival itself is already an honor for her.
“Hindi ko talaga siya in-expect. We were having a conversation before I heard my name. When I heard my name, I said, ‘Am I presenting again?’ And then someone said, ‘You just won best supporting actress.’ Yung face ko talagang, I don’t want to go out yet. I tried to compose myself,” she said.
She added: “I’m so happy. I did not expect this for my first film. I did not even expect to be getting a film from Cinemalaya. Just that was enough for me and getting an award is more than enough. I’m over the moon.”
After receiving her award, Curtis-Smith said the first person she sent an SMS to was her mother.
“I texted my mom, she’s probably asleep in Australia. My Ate (Anne Curtis) texted me. I’m just so thankful and so blessed. I’m just so thankful for everything and everyone who hugged me,” she said.
“Transit” tells the story of Filipino diaspora in Israel. It specifically deals with one family, siblings working in Tel Aviv. They have expired working visas. They are in hiding.

Sam Concepcion opens up on Jasmine Curtis-Smith
Kapamilya singer gears up for 'new music, new image'
MANILA, Philippines -- Sam Concepcion has finally addressed his rumored romantic ties with actress-model Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
The 20-year-old Kapamilya singer said he intends to formally court the younger sister of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" star Anne Curtis, and by extension their family members.
Concepcion said he has been visiting Jasmine and Anne's mother Carmencita Ojales at the hospital, where had been admitted for a hip surgery. After a successful operation, she was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
"I still have to... ligawan syempre the family, her mom, and Anne and everyone else. It never ends, it doesn't stop there. Hindi naman siguro matatapos yung panliligaw ko sa kanila," Concpecion told ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the recent launch of the first store of American Eagle Outfitters in the country.
Asked on the current status of his relationship with Jasmine, Concepcion only offered that they have been able to spend more time together recently, now that the 18-year-old actress is based in the Philippines.
Until this year, Jasmine had been based in Australia for her studies.
"We've known each other for a long time. She is special naman talaga to me. We've been seeing more of each other recently because she's here now," Concepcion said.
He also affirmed when asked if he is happy that Jasmine is staying in the Philippines now.
Meanwhile, Concepcion said he is gearing up for his music career launch in Indonesia. The singer was originally set to go on tour there in February, but had to put off the schedule due to recent floodings in Jakarta.
According to Concepcion, his latest album will offer an "all-new" image and music for him as a performer.
"My album is under Universal Records. It's going to be new music for me, something that you haven't heard me do. Bagong look. Just showing the audience na this is the new me. It's very different kung ano 'yung nire-release ko dati," he said.
He added that the shift in image is also a way to "graduate" from his being identified with the popular kiddie talent search "Little Big Star," which he won in 2005.
"Parang na-stuck 'yung mga tao sa idea na 'Little Big Star' pa rin ako eh, which is a long time ago. So I'll be presenting the new me which I hope they will like," he said.

MANILA, Philippines -- Did Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Sam Concepcion become a couple at one point?
At the sidelines of a press conference held Thursday for her beauty services endorsement, the 18-year-old actress was asked on her rumored relationship with the 20-year-old Kapamilya talent.
"We're friends, we hang out, we watch movies, ganoon. Hangout-hangout lang. We're good friends," said Curtis-Smith, who is the younger sister of "It's Showtime" host Anne Curtis.
Asked whether Concepcion is courting her, she said: "Tanungin niyo na lang siya."
Curtis-Smith kept mum, merely saying "basta," when reporters noted that rumors have surfaced that she and Concepcion were actually a couple for a time.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith deftly balances school and career

Now we see her, now we don’t. And now we see her again. But don’t blink.
If TV5 Princess Jasmine Curtis-Smith is not as visible as her fans would want her to be, it’s because the Australian-based younger sister of superstar actress Anne Curtis continues to shuffle between her school and her showbiz career.
Currently on her Year 12 at Loyola College, in Watsonia, Melbourne, Jasmine is very grateful to the Kapatid network for allowing her to prioritize her studies even as her career continues to blossom at this early stage.
“Considering the flexible time that TV5 gives me, I’m able to balance both school and my career because they let me study and let me have my space there and then when I come here, they’re very generous as they always give me something to do, I’m always busy everyday,” she said during her live interview on “Paparazzi Showbiz Exposed” Saturday afternoon.
Discovered while visiting her sister Anne last year, Jasmine, who already has several commercial endorsements under her belt, quickly became a contract star of TV5.
The network then immediately gave her memorable starring roles including the teleserye remake of “Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum”as the love interest of JC De Vera and the mini-series, “Nandito Ako” opposite American Idol sensation David Archuleta.
While she still hasn’t decided whether she will eventually move back in the country Jasmine has made it clear that if and when she does, her studies will remain her primary goal.
Her mother, Carmen Curtis-Smith, who is currently in town to help map out Jasmine’s career plans, admit that unlike Anne who had her sights set on showbiz when she joined it at a young age, Jasmine has always been the studious type.
For someone who is not always around to sustain her career momentum, it’s amazing how Jasmine’s popularity continues to skyrocket with every brief stop during school breaks.
Ate Anne may be on the top of the world these days after topping the list of Yes magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars but Jasmine is also in another equally distinguished and arguably far more exciting company: that of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women.
Although this is only her first time in the FHM list, her debut ranking of number 80 is nothing to scoff at as she is also ahead of more established names like Alessandra Da Rossi, Rufa Mae Quinto, Karylle, Maxene Magalona and Maricar Reyes.
“Given that I’ve been only here in this industry for a year and a half, I find it flattering na pati sa FHM napasama ako, it’s unbelievable,” the young actress, now 18, exclaimed in disbelief. “I don’t consider myself in that level yet since I’m still young and still innocent.”
Right now, the very innocent Jasmine is taping for the very wholesome “Pidol’s Wonderland” where we will be seeing her for the next four Sundays.
As far as lovelife is concerned, Jasmine and her mom are both one in saying, “it’s not yet time” although Mama Carmen revealed that someone is “hanging around” her precious daughter.
But before her mother could even whisper the guy’s name to “Paparazzi” hosts Zoren Legaspi and Lucy Torres-Gomez, Jasmine let out a cautionary scream.
“Mommy!” she warned.
Suitor or no suitor, Jasmine Curtis-Smith certainly has no shortage of people who love seeing her—even on the small screen that she only gets to occasionally grace with her glowing presence.
