Before stardom, life was hard for Daniel Padilla
Daniel Padilla had to go through a series of ups and downs, setbacks and a hard knock life before getting to where he is right now – a teleserye and movie star, a trusted endorser, a recording and concert performer and a rightful owner of a brand-new home fit for his royal title of Teen King.
In StarStudio magazine’s July issue, Padilla shared the fruits of his hard work and a looked back at the world he had before.
Before having the five-bedroom house with a four-car garage located along Commonwealth Avenue, Padilla did not live in a home that speaks of grandeur. He and his family had to transfer from house-to-house and apartment-to-apartment for reasons he never asked his mother, actress-singer Karla Estrada.
He admitted, however, that he somehow liked that idea of moving places. “Pag lumilipat kami, parang marami akong nadi-discover na bagong lugar at marami akong nakikilala,” he said.
The Teen King is not exaggerating when he said that he has been through a really hard life. According to him, there were times that they do not have enough to eat and there was no electricity in their household.
Those moments made him realize that he needs to help his mother and promised to never allow his siblings to experience further hardships in life.
As fate would have it, Daniel was led to a world of opportunities. He landed roles in ABS-CBN shows like Gimik 2010 and Growing Up and slowly, he made his way to the top as the Teen King with successful movies, jam-packed concerts and numerous endorsements under his belt.
Now, with a house standing on a 1000-square feet land, vehicles such as a Dodge Challenger and 2014 Ford Explorer Limited, multi-platinum albums, an upcoming movie, a Teen Queen beside him and an undeniably large fan base worldwide, no doubt that the Teen King will continue his reign for a long time.
“Magtuloy-tuloy lang sana ito at sa buong family ko. Gusto ko lang nakikita na ang mga tao sa paligid ko masasaya. ‘Yon lang ‘yon. Magtuloy-tuloy lang itong nangyayari sa akin ngayon. Pagbubutihin ko naman,” he added.
For a more detailed look of the house of the biggest star of his generation and the humble beginning of the Teen King, check out StarStudio Magazine’s July issue. StarStudio Magazine is available in bookstores and digital newsstands, Itunes and Zinio.

What Gerald has learned from past loves
MANILA – If there is one thing Gerald Anderson has learned from his past relationships, it is to never hide the one he loves.
That's why he finally admitted that he is in a relationship with actress Maja Salvador.
“I would change not hiding the person I love. Wala akong pinagsisihan ni isang bagay sa buhay ko kasi we learn from it, but that, I would change,” he said in the June 2013 issue of StarStudio magazine.
Anderson said this was among the reasons he decided to end all speculations about the real score between him and Salvador. After all, Anderson said he sees no point in still keeping it from the public.
“Why should I hide this? Why should I hide the person I love? Why should I hide the person who gives me inspiration?” he asked.
He added: “'Yun 'yung advice ko to these new kids who are coming out, never hide your relationship. I think that’s why people have the perception na parang ‘Is this guy for real?’ That’s why they get the perception na ginagamit ko 'yung love team.”
The 24-year-old actor said that up to the day of the StarStudio interview , he still cannot believe that Salvador is already his girlfriend.
Since they began going out late last year, the “friendship” of Anderson and Salvador was immediately met with intrigues, especially since Salvador was, at the time, the best friend of actress Kim Chiu, the former girlfriend of the “Budoy” star.
But Anderson said the only way to proceed with their special relationship was to “keep moving.”
“Alam mo kung mag-asawa man 'yan, mag-girlfriend, magkaibigan, may mga bumps 'yan eh. They’ll always go through the bumps. Minsan may malalaking bumps, minsan may maliliiit na bumps. Alam niyo 'yung mga village na exclusive? Di ba ang lalaki ng bumps doon? Parang ganun. Minsan nandoon ka, minsan nandun ka lang sa EDSA, mga maliliit na bumps,” he explained.
“Ang pinakaimportante, you’re still driving at dirediretso ka. Kung sino man yung nakasakay sa kotse mo, just keep moving with that person. Huwag mo ilalagay sa reverse dahil kapag nilagay mo sa reverse eh di babalik ka lang sa hump,” he added.
After his StarStudio interview, Anderson said he doesn’t want to further discuss his relationship with Salvador.

Angelica details breakup with Derek
MANILA, Philippines -- Angelica Panganiban's six-year relationship with Derek Ramsay ended over the phone.
In an interview in the April 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio, the 26-year-old Kapamilya actress recalled the day when the model-actor allegedly broke up with her after years of unresolved conflicts.
According to Panganiban, Ramsay was in Boracay for a professional commitment and vacation when they had an argument over the phone some time in February 2012.
The actress related that in the heat of their argument, Ramsay suddenly asked her: "Ano ba'ng nararamdaman mo?"
Panganiban recalled saying that she prefers addressing the question personally, once he gets back from vacation, but Ramsay pushed for an answer.
"Wala. Wala na 'kong nararamdaman," she responded.
Ramsay's only answer, according to Panganiban was: "Okay, it's over."
In the years leading up to their separation, the former celebrity couple had to grapple with several problems that later proved difficult to handle.
Among them, Panganiban related in detail to StarStudio, were three major conflicts -- Ramsay's being allegedly a controlling boyfriend, his supposed lack of support for the actress' mission to find her biological father, and his reported marriage to a certain Mary Christine Jolly in 2002.
On the set of the romantic-comedy movie "Every Breath U Take," which she was filming at the time of the breakup, Panganiban said she cried uncontrollably.
"Hindi ko alam kung naiiyak ako dahil nasabi ko siya. Yes, para talaga akong nakatakas, ganoon 'yung pakiramdam ko, pero at the same time, angsakit-sakit. Hindi ko alam kung tama, kung kaya ko panindigan," she said.
The following day, Panganiban recalled, she moved out her things from the house she had shared with Ramsay for five years, with the help of her mother Annabelle.
When Ramsay learned that the actress had already picked up her belongings from their shared home, the actor, Panganiban recalled, messaged her: "Let's fix this."
But for Panganiban, the breakup was a way of finally being set free. Refusing her former boyfriend's plea, she told herself: "Hindi, may way out ka na, nakalabas ka na. Huwag ka nang bumalik."
Ramsay confirmed his separation from Panganiban in May 2012.
In the April 2013 issue of StarStudio, out in newsstands now, Paganiban also retraces her beginnings as an actress after 20 years in the industry. She also recalls her romance with former boyfriend Carlo Aquino, and opens up on her relationship with current partner John Lloyd Cruz.
