Ai Ai reveals she had Bell's palsy

MANILA -- Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas had to miss two weeks of shooting for the upcoming movie "Past Tense" after she was diagnosed with Bell's palsy.

Bell's palsy is a form of facial paralysis caused by the inability to control facial muscles.

"Nagkaroon ako ng Bell's palsy for two weeks. Hindi ako naka-shoot for two weeks," delas Alas confirmed at the press conference of the Star Cinema film on Tuesday.

"Past Tense," which also stars Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, will open in theaters nationwide on November 26.

According to the medical website WebMD, the cause of Bell's palsy is not clear. It added that most people who have Bell's palsy recover completely, without treatment, in one to two months.

However, recovery in delas Alas's case took a much shorter time.

"Ibinigay sa akin ni Lord two weeks lang para makapahinga siguro ako sa mga lumalabas na isyu," delas Alas said, adding that she doesn't know how she developed it.

"Di natin alam saan galing (pwedeng stress) pero more of init lamig 'yon. Akala ko pangmatanda lang 'yon. Totoo pala yon na bawal mainit tapos lamig," she added.

The actress, who turned 50 on Tuesday, said she learned how to enjoy life because of this recent episode.

The interview is scheduled on Tuesday at the US Embassy in Manila.

Ai Ai not yet ready to be friends with Jed

MANILA – Ai Ai delas Alas doesn’t see herself being friends with estranged husband, businessman Jed Salang, at least in the next five to 10 years.

Speaking on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, delas Alas said she hasn’t talked to Salang after the court granted a protection order she sought against the businessman.

“Bawal sa aming mag-usap, bawal sa aming mag-text or anything. Siguro pagdating ng panahon. Siguro mga five years or 10 years from now, baka,” she said.

Delas Alas also confirmed that legal processes as regards to the annulment of their marriage are now underway.

“Yun inaayos na,” the Kapamilya comedienne briefly said.

Delas Alas previously filed a case against Salang for violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 at the same court's Branch 94, where she also sought a permanent protection order against the businessman.

The charges stemmed from delas Alas' allegations during her controversial interview on "The Buzz" aired in May, wherein she claimed she was physically abused by Salang.

The estranged couple were married in a civil wedding on April 3 and separated on May 2.

Asked what she learned from her marriage with Salang, delas Alas said: “Not to be too trusting. Sabi ko siguro dapat move on. Hindi iko-close 'yung book but only turn the page.”

She did not discount the fact that she also had her shortcomings that led to the failure of their marriage.

“Kagaya ng parati kong pagkakamali, madali akong mag-react eh. Kunyari galit, maigsi ang pasensya ko. Tapos may nasasabi akong hindi maganda or masakit, hindi ko na mabawi. Ngayon, na-realize ko, kapag galit na galit ako, Jesus, Jesus mga 10 times. Kasi dadating ang time na kapag may sinabi ka sa kapwa mo at nasabi mo na, hindi mo na mababawi,” she explained.

New love?

Meanwhile, delas Alas clarified that there is nothing romantic going on between her and Lui Villaluz, after it was reported that delas Alas has a crush on the actor-businessman.

“Itong si Ogie Diaz, dinalaw ako sa taping. Hindi ko alam na vini-video niya ako. Tinanong niya kung type ko si Edward. Sabi ko hindi ko siya type kumpara kay Lui. Hindi ko kasi type 'yung hindi chinito or mukang Hapon or mukang Chinese. Doon nag-start kasi sabi ko siyempre mas type ko si Lui,” she said.

Delas Alas said she only went out with Villaluz once, and it was with the entire cast of “Wansapanataym.”

“Lumabas lang kami once kasama yung cast. First time naming lumabas and hanggang ngayon hindi pa kami lumalabas,” she said.

Dingdong congratulates Marian for 'Kung Fu Divas'

MANILA – This early, actor Dingdong Dantes is already congratulating his girlfriend, actress Marian Rivera, for the expected success of her latest movie “Kung Fu Divas.”

In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Dantes said he is certain that the movie will be a blockbuster hit.

“I know this experience is something new to you and something which you will always look back to and be proud of. Just enjoy everything. Happy ako para sa 'yo and sa movie mo,” he said.

Calling Rivera’s project a masterpiece, Dantes said he is happy that the viewers will finally see his girlfriend’s hard work.

“I know kung gaano karaming effort ang nilagay niyo diyan ni Ate Ai (delas Alas) and si Direk Onat (Diaz) and sa lahat ng tao behind the film. This early, I want to salute you and congratulate you. I’m proud of you,” he said.

“Kung Fu Divas” is Rivera’s first movie under Star Cinema.

The first trailer for the Onat Diaz-directed film sees delas Alas and Rivera competing in a pageant called "Hiyas ng Dalampasigan."

Their "fight for the crown" quickly escalates to an apparent kung fu match, which literally takes them to the mountains.

The teaser trailer also highlights the film having "two queens [starring together] for the first time... and probably the last time," referring to the lead actresses' being from rival TV networks.

According to Rivera, working with the Kapamilya network for several months has been a wonderful experience.

“Napakainit ng pagtanggap nila kasi siyempre taga kabila ako. Unang tungtong ko pa lang, ay may catering,” she said.

"Kung Fu Divas" is set to hit theaters nationwide in October.

Ai Ai's son bares details about alleged third party

MANILA, Philippines -- Sancho delas Alas, the son of comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, revealed that the third party involved in the separation of her mother and businessman Jed Salang is a casino employee.

In his official Twitter account, Sancho asked the help of user michellecuenco, who said she works for the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. or Pagcor.

"@sanchovito gawin mo na ang dapat mong gawin sa Jed Salang na yan! pa-banned na namin xa sa pagcor!! grr," michellecuenco told Sancho, who replied: "yes please! Pati yung ex na nagwowork sa pagcor sama mo na rin sa pagka banned. :)"

Sancho, the eldest son of the comedienne, accompanied her mother when she broke down as she confirmed the breakup of her one-month-old marriage to "The Buzz" host Boy Abunda.

Delas Alas revealed on "The Buzz" that Salang physically abused her and that she decided to leave him last May 2 after a violent confrontation.

She said the root of their last fight was Salang's insistence to celebrate their first month together at a casino-hotel.

Delas Alas and Salang were married in Las Vegas last April 3.

The comedienne also said her decision to leave her husband was prompted by confirmations of Salang's alleged real intentions in marrying her. The actress also tearfully said she believes Salang never loved her.

In his Twitter account, an obviously hurt Sancho retweeted hate messages against Salang.

"pinaka mabigat na interview na napanuod ko... :( super Bigat promise," Sancho told one of his followers.

It's Ai Ai delas Alas-Salang

MANILA -- Ai Ai delas Alas has changed her surname.

Based on the 48-year-old actress' latest post on the image-sharing service Instagram Friday night, she now refers to herself as "Ai Ai delas Alas-Salang."

The post, which is a photo of her with her partner, businessman Jed Salang, is captioned: "i MISS JED ALVIN SALANG... from AIAI DELAS ALAS - SALANG"

This came after a week of speculation on whether she indeed married Salang, who is reportedly 20 years her junior, in a civil wedding in Las Vegas last April 3.

While several sources have confirmed the wedding, delas Alas has opted to keep mum when asked on the real status of her relationship with her partner.

The two are reportedly set to wed in church in December in the Philippines.

Delas Alas was previously married to singer Miguel Vera until 2002, when their marriage was annulled. They have two children. The "Pilipinas Got Talent" judge has another son from an earlier relationship.

Ai Ai thanks boyfriend for not giving up

MANILA – Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas turned emotional on Sunday as she thanked her businessman boyfriend Jed Salang for not giving up on their relationship after their most recent misunderstanding.

Speaking on “The Buzz” on Sunday, delas Alas said she feels grateful to have Salang by her side despite her insecurities in life.

“Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you na hinabol mo ako, hindi ka nawalan ng pag-asa. Thank you for loving me,” she said.

Last week on "The Buzz," her manager Boy Abunda confirmed that she and Salang are going through a rough patch. This was after the comedienne immediately left the country after her concert with South Korean rapper Psy to go to the United States.

On Sunday, delas Alas bared that it was when she was in the U.S. that she realized that she deserves a chance at love.

Saying Salas is God-given, delas Alas said she will do her best to make their relationship work.

“Lahat naman ng tao walang kasiguruhan ang buhay. Sabi ko anong magiging garantiya ko na kapag hindi si Jed, isang matanda or kaedad ko, paano ako magiging sure na magwo-work out kami? Sabi ko baka ito nga ang binigay ni Lord and maging happy na lang ako sa binigay niya. Ilalaban ko ang relasyon namin until the end,” she said.

Salang, for his part, said he is willing to marry delas Alas for as long as the actress would want to spend the rest of her life with him.

“Kasal? Siguro iyon kung tatanggapin ako ni Ai,” he said.

Ai Ai, boyfriend going through rough patch

MANILA, Philippines -- Television host Boy Abunda on Sunday spoke up on rumors involving the love life of his ward Ai Ai delas Alas.

Speaking on "The Buzz" where he is one of the hosts, Abunda confirmed that delas Alas and his boyfriend Jed Salang are indeed having a rough patch.

"Opo, may pinagdadaanan si Ai Ai at ang kanyang boyfriend na si Jed. Tayo'y umaasa na maayos. I cannot give you details dahil hindi ko pa po alam ang detalye, pero yes may problema sila," he said.

Abunda, who is delas Alas' talent manager, said the comedienne immediately left the country after her concert with South Korean rapper Psy last week.

He said delas Alas probably wanted some time for herself that's why she left the country right away.

Despite this, Abunda said he is hopeful that the two can still iron things out.

"I'm a possibilitist. Lahat naman ng bagay, may possibility. Pero for Ai Ai actually to leave immediately right after the concert, medyo may kabigatan siguro ang kanilang pinagdadanaan... Ang sigurado lang tayo, yes may problema," he said.

Abunda said delas Alas will return to the Philippines on Monday and he is hoping that she could air her side of the story on the showbiz-oriented show next week.

Ai Ai denies she and boyfriend got married

MANILA, Philippines – Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas denied that she and boyfriend Jed Salang, a businessman 20 years her junior, have already tied the knot.

The rumors started after they were spotted wearing ring pendants, which many believe are really their wedding rings. A “wedding photo” of the couple was also leaked.

But in an interview on “Rated K” that aired on Sunday, the comedienne said the photo is fake.

“‘Yung photo na yan ay chika photo lang namin kasi masyadong excited na kaming pakasal. Kaya sa picture lang muna,” she told host Korina Sanchez.

“Kasi emotionally at saka physically hindi pa kami masyado pang ready,” she explained.

They did not explain about the supposed wedding rings.

Delas Alas also revealed that she still wants to have a child with Salang. The “Sisterakas” star has two children with former husband Miguel Vera and another son from a previous relationship.

“May balak pa pero, ano na, via scientific experimentation,” she said.

“Gusto ko kasi medyo may edad na ako so later on -- in case lang pero siyempre ayoko naman -- kung wala na kami, nakikita ko yung little Jed sa buhay ko,” she said.

Salang said he also wants to have a child with the comedienne.

“Ako gusto ko rin. Ganun din ‘yung iniisip ko. Sana huwag -- kasi eto talaga lagi niya sinasabi in the future baka iwan mo -- at least mayroon akong baby kay Ai Ai,” he said.

Ai Ai defends relationship with younger man

MANILA, Philippines - Even cougars deserve to be happy and loved.

In an interview with KrisTV on Friday, comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, who's now with Jed Salang, a businessman 20 years her junior, said a relationship between a woman who's much older than a man is possible with God's love.

Delas Alas said she's aware that people might think that Salang is just after her wealth. She added, however, that what's important in a relationship is not the age or wealth gap but love.

"Palagi namang ganoon eh.

Salang comes from a well-off family and works as a manager in the family's car dealership.

Salang said he doesn't mind people asking him why he chose delas Alas.

"(Ang sagot ko) hindi ko alam, wala naman kayong magagawa, yun ang gusto ko eh. Para sa akin, kapag nagtataong 'Babe, tinitignan mo ba yung age gap natin?' Sabi ko 'ako hindi ko maramdaman yung age natin ay ganito. Parang feeling ko ay magkasing-age tayo, magkasing level tayo, yung ganoon,'" Salang said.
