'Riverdale' stars call out Cosmo PH for photoshopping their images

MANILA – Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes, stars of the hit TV series “Riverdale,” called out Cosmopolitan Philippines on Friday for photoshopping their bodies in the magazine’s latest issue.

Reinhart, who plays the role of Betty Cooper in the TV adaptation of the “Archie” comics, mentioned in a series of posts on Instagram Stories how their photos from Cosmopolitan US were altered by the magazine’s Philippine counterpart to make them look thinner.

“Today is International Women’s Day. Over the last year, we’ve seen an unprecedented movement for women’s rights, and one thing is clear: our time is now. We are phenomenal, and we will make the world a better place for all women. But we still have a long way to go. Our fight is not over,” she said.

“Camila and I have worked incredibly hard to feel confident and comfortable in the bodies that we have. It’s an everyday battle sometimes. And to see our bodies become so distorted in an editing process is a perfect example of the obstacles we have yet to overcome,” she added. 

“So we cannot stop fighting. Our battle has only begun.”

Reinhart stressed that she and Mendes “aren’t going to hide behind Photoshop to conform to beauty standards.”

“That’s why I’m calling out Cosmopolitan Philippines. It’s sad that you felt our bodies needed to be slimmed down,” she said, adding that the magazine “can’t fix us.”

The actress went on to encourage her fellow celebrities and public figures to stop editing their physical features in their photos. 

“It’s only encouraging an unrealistic body image. It’s adding to the problem,” she pointed out. 

Mendes, for her part, said she and Reinhart “feel disrespected and disturbed by the sight of our photoshopped bodies.”

“We want their readers to know that those bodies are not ours; they have been distorted from their natural beauty. We prefer to see our bodies the way they actually are. I’m not interested in having a slimmer waist, I’m more than satisfied with the one that I already have,” said the actress, who plays the role of Veronica Lodge in “Riverdale.” 

ABS-CBN News has reached out to Cosmopolitan Philippines, but the magazine has yet to release a statement about the issue.

Trainer spills secret to Nadine's sexy body

MANILA – Nadine Lustre is one of the actresses who has a body that a lot of girls aspire to have.


No wonder she has been hailed as this year’s sexiest woman in the country after all.

While she also maintains a healthy and controlled diet, another reason why she has a sexy body is because she regularly exercises.

In an article on Cosmopolitan Philippines, Lustre’s trainer talked about the actress's gym routine.

"I admire Nadine’s work ethic and time management skills. We all know how hectic her schedule is and as her trainer, believe me, she needs 48 hours in a day,” Mark Banta said.

He also admires Lustre’s discipline, especially her endurance

"Another thing I like about training Nadine is that she doesn’t have go-to moves. If she needs to endure an hour of ab workouts, she’ll do it," he said.

"If she can squeeze in a workout after taping in the morning, shooting in the afternoon, guesting at night, why can’t we make time for a 30-minute workout?” he added.

Currently, Lustre is currently one of the regular hosts of ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime.”

Ellen, Baste broke up 'several times'

MANILA – Ellen Adarna broke up “several times” with presidential son Sebastian “Baste” Duterte before they parted ways for good, the actress revealed.

Adarna, who appears on the cover of the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Philippines, said in an interview with the magazine that she and Duterte went through a lot before reaching their “final breakup,” which involved not talking to each other for a month.

“We broke up several times, and then ‘yung final straw – ‘yung final breakup talaga na hindi kami nag-usap for maybe a month – ang dami kong realizations,” she said.

Adarna then had second thoughts about getting back together with the young Duterte, who is in a relationship with another woman.

“Kung babalikan ko siya, makakatulog ba ako sa gabi nang maayos? I don’t want that. And I don’t deserve that kasi binibigay ko naman lahat ‘pag nagmahal ako,” she said.

Last month, Duterte said he never broke up with his long-time girlfriend, Kate Necessario, amid rumors of his relationship with Adarna.

They have a two-year-old son named Yair.

Meet Maria Ozawa's Valentines' Day date

MANILA -- It appears Maria Ozawa has found love just in time for Valentines' Day.

Last Tuesday, the former adult film star posted a photo of herself going out on a date with Filipino, Jose Sarasola.

According to his Instagram page, Sarasola is a chef and an owner of a sports bar in Parañaque. He was also a contestant of "Pinoy Fear Factor," the localized version of the international franchise reality show that aired on ABS-CBN in late 2008.


This was not the first time the two were seen together. Sifting through Ozawa's own Instagram page revealed that she spent Christmas with Sarasola. She has also visited Sarasola's sports bar a number of times.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines back in 2010, Sarasola said his stint on "Pinoy Fear Factor" was one of the "best experiences" of his life.

"Going to Argentina to shoot 'Fear Factor' was amazing. Plus, getting bitten by an anaconda was freaky but memorable," he shared.

Sarasola also admitted to harboring celebrity crushes for Kapamilya stars Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis. "Not because they’re really pretty, but because of how they act. Kasi talagang kakaiba 'yung acting nila and I know them kasi, so even if they’re my friends, I find them really pretty in and outside."

All grown up: Liza Soberano poses for Cosmo

MANILA – The baby is now a lady.

“Dolce Amore” star Liza Soberano is the latest cover girl of Cosmopolitan Philippines, a magazine that features sex and beauty tips for modern women.

The actress is seen wearing a figure-hugging black dress on the cover of Cosmo’s July 2016 issue which was released on the magazine’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

 

Soberano, who turned 18 last January, has been featured in several fashion and beauty publications.

But this is the first time that the actress appeared on Cosmo, which is popular for its annual “bachelor bash” events.

Her love team partner, Enrique Gil, walked down the runway in the 2011 edition of Cosmo’s bachelor bash.

In January 2015, netizens reacted to the Cosmo debut of teen star Kathryn Bernardo.

Many of them noted that the actress, who is 18 at the time, is “too young” to appear in such a publication.

Pressman, the celebrity best friend of “On the Wings of Love” star Nadine Lustre, is the newest cover girl of Cosmopolitan Philippines.

Lustre, meanwhile, graced the cover of the magazine’s January issue.

On Monday, Cosmopolitan Philippines released a video of Pressman posing by the pool wearing colorful swimwear.


Pressman is part of the hit 2014 movie “Diary ng Panget,” which also starred Lustre, James Reid and Andre Paras.

A video showing her dancing to “Twerk It Like Miley” went viral late last year.

Celebrity hunks flaunt sexy bods at Cosmo bash

MANILA – Kapamilya actors Daniel Matsunaga and JC de Vera were among the celebrity hunks at this year’s Cosmo Bachelor Bash at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on Saturday.

Organized by local lifestyle magazine Cosmopolitan Philippines, the bash featured a carnival theme, which saw models and celebrities giving the predominantly female audience a visual treat as they who flaunted their chiseled bodies and six-pack abs.

Aside from Matsunaga and de Vera, the head turners at the runway event included Elmo Magalona, Derrick Monasterio and Alex Medina who all participated in the annual bash for the first time.

LOOK: Meet the father of Empress' baby

MANILA - Hours after confirming her pregnancy on live television on Saturday, actress Empress Schuck posted a photo on her Instagram account of the baby's father.

Schuck, in an interview on GMA's "Startalk," identified the man as Vino Guingona, the grandson of former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr. and the nephew of Senator Teofisto Guingona III.




According to the 22-year-old, they have been together for more than year.

Guingona is a model from Zamboanga City. He has been featured back in 2011 by Cosmopolitan Philippines as one of the magazine's "summer hunks."

Asked about their wedding plans, Schuck said that they have yet to talk about it and their focus, as of the moment, remains solely on their upcoming child.

A former Kapamilya, Schuck was part of ABS-CBN's "Star Magic." She has had roles in "Super Inggo," "Apoy Sa Dagat," and "100 Days to Heaven," among other television projects.

She also starred in films such as "Shake, Rattle and Roll 14," "Pagpag: Siyam Na Buhay," and "On The Job."

Schuck transferred to GMA Network last November.

Sexy Coleen Garcia shares secrets to staying fit

MANILA – Want to score a bikini-ready body like Coleen Garcia’s? The “It’s Showtime” host shares some of her secrets to staying fit as she graces the cover of a women’s magazine.

In a behind-the-scenes interview from her cover shoot for Cosmopolitan Philippines, Garcia said she makes an effort to do different exercises every day.

“I try to work out every day whenever I can. Each day is a different workout. There are days when I do purely legs, there are days when I do purely abs, purely arms. But on the days that I don’t get to work out much, I try to squeeze everything in one day,” she said.

“It’s mostly weight training, heavy weights because I enjoy it. I try not to work out on my arms so much because they get big,” she added, laughing. “I don’t want big arms so it’s really mostly toning. Lighter weights for my arms and heavier weights for my legs because that’s what I’m trying to build.”

When asked to talk about her eating habits, Garcia said following a strict diet does not work for her.

“I pretty much eat what I want as long as it’s the right amount. No excessive eating, I just try to hold back a little bit,” she said. “I believe in kind of granting yourself whatever you want as long as you do it with discipline, like you don’t eat too much of it.”

Recalling the time she tried to go on a diet, the “It’s Showtime” host said: “My trainer would give me food, like chicken and everything, and I had to eat it for my protein. So what happens is I end up eating more because apart from that chicken, I would still eat whatever I wanted at the end of the day.”

“So it’s just better to limit yourself. It really helps to know the times when you’re supposed to eat. It’s good to have small, frequent meals every three hours, that’s what my trainer told me. You have to be eating something light every three hours just so your tummy doesn’t get too hungry.”

Early this year, Garcia became a new “fitspiration” for many of her followers on Instagram after she was seen posing in colorful bikinis in Maldives with her boyfriend and fellow “It’s Showtime” host Billy Crawford.

LOOK: Is Kathryn 'too young' for Cosmo debut?

MANILA - Teen superstar Kathryn Bernardo appears to be turning a page in her public image as she graced for the first time women's magazine Cosmopolitan as its January 2015 cover girl.

 Bernardo, who turned 18 last March, is dubbed a "girl in charge" on the cover unveiled Wednesday on Cosmopolitan Philippines' Facebook page. She is seen posing in an off-shoulder, midriff-baring top and a floral mini-skirt.

While some followers of Bernardo expressed excitement over her debut on Cosmopolitan, which is popular for its yearly "bachelor bash" and sex and beauty tips for adult women, others questioned the decision to feature the former "Goin' Bulilit" star in the magazine.

"She's too young for Cosmo," commented Mara de Lara.

"Paano ba namimili ngayon ng ilalagay sa cover ng Cosmo? Fan votes?" asked Brian Villena. "She's still too young for the cover."

Reader Abigail Perez, meanwhile, raised the apparent disconnect between Bernardo and a sex-related blurb placed next to the petite actress: "'7 Sex Zones You Musn't Neglect' written next to Kathryn Bernardo's head doesn't look quite right. But I find her incredibly stunning."

Nonetheless, fans agreed that Bernardo appeared to be "blooming" and more mature on the cover. Others noticed her defined abs and praised the actress for keeping fit.

Bernardo's Cosmopolitan debut comes a month after she was introduced as the lead star, along with onscreen partner Daniel Padilla, of ABS-CBN's modern retelling of "Pangako Sa 'Yo," widely seen as the love team's first foray into mature roles.

Enzo Pineda 'more mature, sexy' in latest flick

MANILA, Philippines – They have yet to publicly confirm the real score between them, but Enzo Pineda’s “butt exposure” for an upcoming movie reportedly has the stamp of approval of his rumored girlfriend, Louise delos Reyes.

“Oo naman, nagpaalam ako. Sabi niya lang, ''Wag lang malaswa,'” a laughing Enzo said in a report aired on “Unang Hirit,” Friday.

The Kapuso actors have been open in telling media about their feelings for each other. However, Enzo only went as far as Louise did, who told PEP last week that they’ve been “special friends” for almost a year now.

Enzo is part of the Rhian Ramos and Aljur Abrenica-starrer, “My Kontrabida Girl.” Of the experience, the young actor shared, “I'm proud of it, [that] I'm part of that scene.”

But apparently, he didn't do it alone.

“Lahat kami nagulat. Pero it was more fun because kami ni Sef [Cadayona], Kevin [Santos] and Ken [Chan] ang magkakasama and magbabarkada kami.

“So ano siya, kumbaga hindi siya malaswa, [it's done] for the love of the movie,” Enzo said of the butt exposure.

He isn’t new to doing sexy stunts having graced the stage at last year’s Cosmopolitan Philippines’ Bachelor Bash with other hunks. Still, it seems the actor isn’t fully ready to go “daring” for the cameras just yet.

“Tingnan natin. Depende. Kasi for me it's about the character and the role. So dapat maganda 'yung movie, maganda 'yung script, nababagay talaga sa 'kin,” Enzo explained.
